It’s always satisfactory to have proof, ‘from the horse’s mouth’ as it were, for the MSM’s selective reporting of ‘news’. Here is this morning’s collection of the print editions’ front pages, graced with the astonishing headline concocted by ‘staff’: “Newspaper headlines: Harry ‘bombshell’ and Bet Lynch’s dementia diagnosis” (link).
I’ve no idea why Sunak’s ‘initiative’ hasn’t made it into the BBC’s headline. Moreover, do the Westminster news editors really think that we plebs – those of us who can read, that is – are more interested in a TV star than the PM’s latest shenanigans?
This is even more surprising because Sunak’s ‘initiative’ relates to AI, an issue we’ve carefully been told to be afraid of. Shouldn’t any instance of this new fear porn ‘for the masses’ be kept in the news? Anyway, here’s the headline in the Times: “US will join Rishi Sunak summit to rein in ‘existential’ AI risk” (link, paywalled). Well, isn’t that glorious! The mighty USA graciously ‘joining Sunak’ – aren’t we all proud to be British now!
There is another news item meant to keep us shivering with fear: “New technology could reveal your private thoughts, warn experts” (link, paywalled). Is this newsworthy “because: AI” – or is this about filling the pages, thanks to a government report?
The article weighs in on the ‘dangerous – be afraid’ scale, with the immediate cry for ‘guidance’ from our scientifically illiterate government:
“A report from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) says devices that can harvest information directly from the brain are set to become increasingly common. It warns that in the future they could be used to assess an individual’s mental health, their suitability for jobs and to access thoughts they might not wish to be made public.” (link, paywalled)
Are you trembling with fear yet, of having all your private thoughts revealed? Interestingly, the original report puts more weight on bias, discrimination and the urgent need for ‘regulation’:
“Discrimination in neurotechnology could occur where models are developed that contain bias, leading to inaccurate data and assumptions about people and communities. […] Neurodivergent people may be particularly at risk of discrimination from inaccurate systems and databases that have been trained on neuro-normative patterns.” (link)
I dunno what ‘neurodivergent people’ are. I suppose this is yet another example of using hifalutin’ words in order to look unbiased and inclusive because calling a spade a spade is offensive. Read the whole report to get the gist – it’s ‘careful bureaucratese’ at its finest. I am only surprised The Times avoided to copy those details.
There are two news items which I had to look up online because the reporting by our MSM was a bit … selective. One is about the fate of the DT. The grauniad and TV news stations somewhat gleefully report that they’re ‘up for sale’, e.g. the BBC:
“The Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers and The Spectator magazine are set to be put up for sale due to debts owed by their parent group.” (link)
One might have thought that at least The Times would have found this worthy of a report. The DT’s editors were probably told to keep quiet. Ah well, why would the subscribers to the DT and the Speccie need to know about the fate of those publications which they support with their money!
The other item is about New York and the air quality of that place. The Times headlines their report: “People warned to stay inside as Canadian smoke engulfs New York” (link, paywalled) and writes:
“Bands of smoke stretching south from fires in Quebec led to air quality warnings from the National Weather Service for cities all along the Atlantic coast, covering a population of more than 100 million Americans. By the late afternoon New York had the worst air quality of any city in the world, surpassing Dubai, Delhi and Lahore,” (link, paywalled)
It’s clearly only newsworthy because it has now hit New York. The fate of the Canadians affected by those fires is of no interest. Only right at the bottom, hidden away, do we find the obligatory outcry:
“The New York senator Chuck Schumer called the smoke “a warning from nature that we have a lot of work to do to reverse the destruction of climate change”. (link, paywalled)
So how come, one might ask, haven’t we already been told about those wildfires which surely must have been ongoing for some time to produce such smoke? I checked out ‘sources’ on the internet, e.g. this report from NASA which shows that these fires didn’t occur overnight (link).
Why have our climate change cultists not already been hopping about because of these fires? Did they not know because it wasn’t ‘in the news’ – or are these fires only newsworthy because New York is affected?
Because our MSM insist that it’s ‘important news’, I leave you with the best headline regarding yon prince. Nothing describes better the attitude of him and his spouse – he ‘did it all for her’, you know:
“Prince Harry tells High Court judge he is not aware of ANY evidence he was hacked by the Mirror – but insists it would be an ‘injustice’ if he lost his case against them as he finishes his second day on the stand” (link)
There’s no coming back from this: he regards himself as above the law. Clearly, he’s never heard of Magna Carta or what happened to his ancestor, King Charles I. He’s entitled and that’s that. And he demands that we, the plebs, pay for his ‘security’ … words fail me.
That’s all I have for today. I expect that we’ll soon hear more about climate change, how those wildfires are our fault for driving cars and that we need to install heat pumps immediately. wildfires have never happened before, you know! Have a good day.

Careful………..I still buy the “rag”
An overfilled dam was just damaged in Ukraine, flooding towns and villages downstream and cutting off 80 pct of fresh water supply to Crimea. The Ruskies say it was the Ukies, the Ukies say it was Poccia wot dunnit.
Leaving aside the elephant in the room, the SNP have nailed it – it was the Westminster Government.
CH- I read a lot. Seems a tranny egg was a big meal for six. They were multi-rainbow-colured, doncha know.
And…………why is our waste of time, unwanted and unelected prime minister not raising the subject of an USA/British trade deal during his visit to America which would benefit both countries. Ok, whilst Biden is in office that is unlikely to transpire because he appears to be rather anti British, but nevertheless Sunak should be raising this issue if only to keep it in the public limelight and Biden on his toes. What has Sunak actually achieved during his visit to the USA apart from talking fine but meaningless words over expensive five course meals and quaffing champagne. The answer to that question is probably bugger all, and his time would have been better spent on sorting out the myriad of problems facing the citizens of this country. I thought Boris the Buffoon was bad enough, and whilst Sunak is not a buffoon, he is just so incredibly weak and bland and I just cannot see what he has to offer us. At best he just seems to be going through the motions of being prime minister and not doing terribly much. Sleep inducing is not the phrase but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
This morning a Syrian asylum seeker entered a children’s playground in Annecy and stabbed a number of young children. Three are in a serious condition in hospital. What the British Press are not reporting. but the French are, is that he came to the EU via Sweden where he was granted asylum. Clearly, with the EU once you are in you are in and can then choose which country to go to for the purpose of committing atrocities. He reapplied once he got to France and was turned down! The attack was probably revenge for that.
The authorities have yet to come up with the mental illness explanation though I am sure they will soon. (Perhaps he is neurodivergent as well.) That won’t be a comfort for the mothers sitting by their children’s beds in hospital.
On the continent, stabbing Jews and priests has become normal in the sense of occupying about half a news cycle or an inside page in a regional newspaper. Stabbing children as young as three will probably remain in the news a little longer as it is taking things a bit too far but by next week another Jew or Christian adult will be attacked somewhere in the EU and may get a mention if there is nothing more interesting occupying the news.
It was a warm, sunny morning in Annecy, an ordinary Thursday and a good day to take your children to the park. The mothers involved never expected to be in hospital later this morning praying that their child does not die. The amount of blood on our politicians’ hands continues to increase.
… and Macron and the ‘elite’ talk about ‘de-civilisation’ over a nice lunch, raising of taxes being a preferred ‘cure …
I have no words to describe how I feel about this horrible, bloody act of terrorism.
Horrific crime in France.
Sadly, the French and British people have had lots of chances to vote for centre Right and even Nationalist parties for the last 50 years but choose not to do so.
In 2010 I went to a pre GE debate where all the candidates had 10 minutes to speak. Neither the Tory, Labour or Lib Dem would shake hands with the British National Party candidate after the event. The man, an ex veteran, who served in N. Ireland and overseas for his country for 15 years only received an handshake from our UKIP candidate. Those establishment politicians were not fit to kiss the boots of the BNP chappy yet people are prepared to vote for the establishment scum.
Write a story Viv. Even I wright a story to illustrate a point . ( Jimmy’s story. who invented a new kind of plant-pot ) And then use it mercilessly on subordinates. But they loved it. It has stopped more than one strike. Your story could be the book of our time
That is truly horrific SY. Time to bring back the guillotine methinks.
Why he wasn’t shot dead by the police whilst in the act is beyond reason. I guess now we will be treated to an expensive trial and some ridiculous excuse for his behaviour.
Perhaps the Zelensky regime or Bill Gates may be interested in buying the DT to push their agendas to the credulous who still buy the rag.
neurodivergent does not appear in the OED. Hence it is either it is an americanism or made up (the same).
From that, my interpretation is its either a netball scoring system or someone who diverges / does not believe the msm narrative. So:
– Green good / any fuel bad – very cold Winter very good?
– Global warming, all going to die – see the ‘normal’ (asymptotic to vertical on ordinate axis) temperature graph **
– There is a Wellington bomber on the Moon – near to the Lancaster bomber?
– Hydrocarbon fuelled cars, bad – lithium batteries good, copper wire for charging electric cars abundant, got it?
– Pres Bidet has all his faculties – Alzheimer’s patient working at peak performance?
** since bbc ‘records began’ . . . nearly six months ago? Take a look at temp and CO2 content in time of dinosaurs.
Biscotte……..were you around when Mr. Rex was strutting his thing across the sun baked plains and CO2 laden atmosphere?
