Sir,
The following quote is taken from a report in The Timest:
“A Brexit trade, security and fishing deal could be in sight early next week as Michel Barnier, the European Union’s chief negotiator, prepares to come out of coronavirus quarantine for the final round of talks. Negotiators continued line-by-line talks on a draft legal treaty text yesterday as talks enter the last stage. There was an outbreak of the virus in the European team last week. While opening a new customs facility at Dublin port yesterday, Micheál Martin, the Irish prime minister, said that negotiators were working on “texts now in all areas” and the EU’s assessment was the most hopeful to date.” (link, paywalled)
The public knows nothing about the content of the security section of this deal!
What does the government want on this issue? What are the terms being negotiated? Does the government have any red lines?
We have been kept completely in the dark as regards the government’s intentions in this regard.
It has not been debated in Parliament, or in any of the mainstream media. This is utterly disgraceful. Worse, it is sinister.
Security is the heart of State power. External security means tanks, cannon, guns, bombs, fighter jets, battleships, etc etc. Domestic security means criminal law, police, prisons, handcuffs, forcible confiscation of goods, and other means of exercising legal violence over the bodies of the citizens, whether they be actually criminals or not, convicted or under investigation, under the criminal law provisions of the State concerned.
Whoever controls Security in a State controls that State, and all the people in it. The EU aims openly to fuse its member states into a single State, and at this point it appears to want the UK as a satellite state.
Lord Pearson of Rannoch has tabled a question for written answer (see here), to ask HMG if
“they intend any extradition from the UK to any EU jurisdiction after the end of transition period to be possible only with a court ruling that there is a prima facie case to answer; and if not, why not.”
Alas, the Home Office’s answer to this question is only due on 1st December next, by which time it is forecast that a deal will have been clinched. So the people of Britain are to be presented with a fait accompli?
This is a crucial issue, for without the power of a UK court to decide whether an extradition request is well-founded on sufficient evidence of guilt, the personal freedom of each and every Briton in Britain lies entirely at the quite arbitrary mercy of any continental court – or indeed any continental prosecutor, considered even by our own Supreme Court to be a “judicial authority”.
Must we presume that behind this reticence lies the present government’s hidden intention to continue May’s and Rudd’s declared intention to maintain us within the European Arrest Warrant, or a replica thereof, after 1/1/21?
If so, any EU prosecutor will be able to continue to arrest anyone in the UK, showing no evidence, and transport them to lengthy imprisonment “pending investigation” under continental jurisdictions where our Habeas Corpus safeguards are unknown.
Hardly anybody in the UK is aware that the EU institutions have selected as their supremo European Public Prosecutor a prosecutor from Rumania, where arbitrary judicial power of arrest and lengthy imprisonment, on charges that may be quite spurious, is regularly used and abused as a battering-ram against political opponents.
Respectfully, Torquil Dick-Erikson

Sir,
The front page of the Sunday Telegraph (29th November 2020) reports on a “candid assessment” from No 10, implying that fishing (0.1% of the UK GDP) remains the key issue to be resolved in Brexit talks. But how could any such assessment omit reference to the Withdrawal Agreement (WA)?
What of the level playing field (burden of EU regulations, at around 7% of GDP) control of state aid, NI separation and other toxic WA clauses – which threaten UK sovereignty? Do they no longer matter?
Is BJ preparing to accept those clauses in exchange for a deal on fishing, or has he already abandoned the WA? Let’s have a truly candid assessment, not smoke and mirrors.
Respectfully, Roger J. Arthur
The answers I received from politicians when I challenged them over the EAW etc indicated that their minds were made up ages ago to pass something along the lines of the Security Treaty and keep the EAW unreformed. . Their replies were designed to fob me off and they pretended not to grasp the problem. My own MP was positively abusive and accused me of being racist because i used the term “corrupt foreign magistrates,” and told me not to write to him again on this topic.
A few days ago I wrote to him about police brutality nationwide, although admittedly not in my own area. (I have to admit I did not spell this out; but surely everyone is aware of the brutality in London at least ). He wrote back saying in effect what police brutality?
I challenged him on the license to kill bill, and he did not see any problem with that either.
My conclusion is that the politicians know they’re doing evil, but expect us to shut up and put up.
PS I think it very odd that Farage, whose former party UKIP made a big issue of the EAW etc in the
past, has been quiet about this too.
I am assuming, based on his appalling felonious and mendacious behaviour over Covid, that Fathead will sell us out completely except for a tiny sop to fishermen. I’m looking ahead now to the 2024 election when the Tory treachery can be backed out by an actual patriotic government a) if we are still allowed elections b) they aren’t using Dominion voting machines c) you don’t need a Covid vaccination certificate to vote.
I doubt Boris is concerned about any aspect of the brexit deal so long as he can present it as some glorious achievement. What we will end up with is a treaty acceptable to the UN, the EU and that part of the establishment that wish to rejoin. And then we will be expected to vote for them again because the other lot are bonkers. No thanks.
Can somebody straighten out my thinking?
Suddenly there is silence, up to a couple of weeks ago a deal seemed very doubtful and unless the EU accepted a Canadian style termed deal plus return of fisheries and legal sovereignty then it was heigh-ho to no deal and WTO rulz trading, with the final shot in the locker in reserve of a Parliamentary means of rescinding sections of the WA affecting the Northern Irish/ROfI impasse ( which, to me nudge, nudge, wink wink meant rendering the rest of the WA inoperable – any protests being repulsed on the grounds of it having been negotiated in bad faith ie the EU had failed to negotiate a proper Free Trade Agreement)
I know the Bill was defeated in the HOL and apparently the Government have held it in reserve for now.
Is there a reason?
Do they know at the end of the day, even if they pull the Parliament Act they would lose because their own side would renege on them
So the government are left with the option of a cooked up surrender on EU terms or an extension said to be due to Covid
Oh and to me Torquil it’s plain as a pike staff we have h the EAW or its successor and it has always been the EU ambition to bring us wholesale under Corpus Juris, I remember Kate Hoey’s involvement over the issue and I don’t suppose it will be long even after a proper Brexit that our enemy within will back track
I put it on record here that a letter by me was printed in my local paper a warning about Corpus Juris, several years ago.
The following week a letter from a D Preedy accused me of peddling conspiracy theories.
Someone by name of D Preedy was at the time LibDem councillor for Box Hill. Was it same D Preedy as the one who silenced my warning?
I’m naming and shaming all those who tried to silence us.
I donot care about French ” No deal till it is all agreed.”
A recipe for treachery.
This little deal on the side here. This Colossal but unimportant deal we wont mention there.
Yes PM you can sign that to keep Mrs May and Hillary Benn quiet
It’ll take your ” Anti everything lawyers a couple of months to decode it.
Only a lying thieving treacherous politician would sign this.sort of ” DEAL”
All this focus from the Government and the EU about fishing being the last hurdle before a deal can be done is very suspicious indeed. We should brace ourselves for an almighty Brexit fudge.
Fishing in Britain might (for now) only account for 0.1% of GDP, but when it comes to the question of sovereignty, a British fisherman’s livelihood is worth every bit as much as a British banker’s livelihood. Our fisheries are more about sovereignty than bargaining chips.
Mini-Manny seems to be worried about the livelihoods of French fishermen who won’t be able to fish off the British coast next year. He says if his trawlers can’t plunder our waters, serious damage could be done to his country’s fleet. Didn’t seem to be worried about Britain’s fishing fleet when his people decided they wanted all our fish, did he?
Edward Spalton of Campaign for an Independent Britain pointed out a long time ago that the fishing fleet “is the nursery of the Royal Navy”. And the Royal Navy is, and always has been ever since it was founded by King Alfred, the ultimate guarantor of British sovereignty. We remember also how many fishing vessels rushed to help evacuate the troops from Dunkirk, This is surely why the EU has been so keen on decimating it, and getting their rights over British waters. .
However, even if we do get complete control over our waters, as long as they have the power to have any of us arrested on no evidence and transported to lengthy imprisonment in Europe “pending investigation” on spurious and defamatory accusations, they will have us by the short and curlies and will be able to snuff out our independence whenever they want.
Boris and his negotiators are simply not to be trusted. We may well find out that our being kept in the dark is a deliberate cover-up of the already agreed sell-out to the EU.
“Nothing is agreed till it is all agreed “.
This means they want it to be as big and as secret as possible for as long as possible. So, we know treachery is occurring and being considered by some, if not all.:– Logic.! Therefore TRUTH.. And when allowed, taints everything and everybody.
