Ed: this is another instructive email exchange between Frederica and her MP. We’re happy to publish this because it demonstrates excellently how ‘They’ actually don’t work for us even when they – or their assistants or SpAds – answer our emails.

Firstly, the MP’s email:

[Dear Frederica],

Thank you for writing to me about the potential use of vaccine certification. I understand that one of my team has already been in touch to provide you with details on how to submit evidence to the Government’s ongoing review. 

I don’t want to pre-empt the outcome of this review, but I will reiterate what the Prime Minister has said recently about how important it would be to make sure any future scheme is not discriminatory.

Liberty and freedom are the foundation of our society, and that’s why the Government has no plans to make the coronavirus vaccine mandatory for the wider public. However, we need to consider very carefully the impact that this choice could have on other people’s safety. Compromises between liberty and people’s safety have to be made in a number of other areas of UK law, for example with drink driving. 

Considerations of this nature about the ethical judgement of vaccine certification will form a key part of the Government’s review, and I would encourage you to submit your thoughts. 

Other countries will make their own minds up about the need for future vaccine passports, but given that many countries around the world already require proof of vaccinations for other diseases like yellow fever, typhoid and hepatitis A, I would expect at least some to decide to adopt them. 

I hope this helps to explain the Government’s current approach but, as ever, please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you feel that I can be of further assistance.

Thank you for your email reply received 30/3/21. 

Sadly, your paragraph beginning ‘Liberty and Freedom’ merely highlights the fact that it is government intention to coerce the population of the ‘United Kingdom’ into accepting both the ‘so-called’ vaccine and ID cards against their will, to be as standard in everyday life.  The concept of a national I.D. Card was promoted during the years of the Blair government.  It was defeated.  The knowledge that Mr Blair has been ‘advising’ this government will not engender any belief in the claim of this  government to be ‘libertarian’.  To my mind this is an absolute abdication of the ‘libertarian’ concept of ‘government by consent’!  The current descent from ‘Liberty’ to virtual slavery under ‘Big-State’ via cultural Marxism is an abomination that any true Conservative would scorn to support!  This government is NOT ‘Conservative’!  I could never have imagined that I would ever see such a degradation of all the tenets of democracy that I have previously accepted as normal during my lifetime!

You cannot keep everyone ‘safe’.  It is an impertinent and blasphemous megalomania to believe that any government could achieve such an aim!  Throughout history there have been epidemics that have killed those who were both vulnerable and susceptible.  That is an incontrovertible fact.

To promote a ‘gene therapy’ so-called vaccine as the ultimate panacea is a pretentious fantasy.  The so-called vaccine does not prevent catching the virus nor does it provide total ‘immunity’.  It may possibly, mitigate the effects of the virus but it cannot stop a person catching it nor from passing it on to others.  For those who are susceptible, the so-called vaccine may actually increase their chances of becoming very unwell after administration, through the lowering their lymphocyte count.

You mention Yellow Fever, Typhoid and Hepatitis A.  Correct me if I am wrong but I always understood that these are quantifiable ‘diseases’ that carry a defined genetic make-up.  Whereas the Coronavirus COVID-19 – like all viruses – is a ‘shape-shifter’ and liable to mutate repeatedly.  I understand that the vaccine that is being vociferously promoted by government is not proof against mutated incarnations of COVID!

To promote the vaccination of the whole population (including children) with a trial vaccine (end of trials not expected until 2023), where the long-term effects are unknown, is an abomination!  The Human-Being has evolved with an inbuilt immune system.  Germs and bacteria are around us all at all times.  Being exposed to such, helps build up those immune systems.  It has been asserted that those (who do not have any other health considerations) under the age of 60 have a better than even chance of surviving COVID the same way that they would survive influenza.  

To prate of government libertarian principles is nonsense.  This government has no such principles.  It has locked up a whole nation on a false and hubristic premise that only government action would keep them ’safe’.

To introduce any kind of domestic ‘passport’ – when to do so would exclude so many from society and normal life  – is against all the tenets of the Human Rights Act to which this Country has signed.  To affirm that the agreement made after the Nuremberg Trials do not bind this government is immoral and possibly open to legal questioning under the tacitly accepted International Law.

I have contributed my personal views to both consultations i.e that of Mr Gove and also the separate MPs consultation – which I notice is open until May!

Once again we differ widely in our views.  You, as a Minister, are following the ‘Party Line’.  However, you should remember that you also have a duty to reflect upon and represent the views of the wider population who elected you to office!
