NO NORMAL OR EVEN NEW NORMAL YET SAYS BORIS
The Telegraph reports: A return to normality remains some way off as Boris Johnson warned on Monday as it emerged that some measures to counter Covid could remain in place even after all adults have been offered a vaccine. The Prime Minister confirmed that pub gardens and shops can open on April 12 but told people not to book overseas summer holidays yet because border reopenings could happen later than the planned date . With vaccine passports for domestic use being a feature of our lives until the pandemic subsides as there is nothing to stop businesses demanding to see them as long as equality laws are not broken.
THE PLANE TO SPAIN CAN REALLY BE A PAIN
The Express reports: Britons and others have reportedly been turned away from boarding a flight from the UK to Spain as travel chaos continues to affect British expats. One Briton has described how he and six others were stopped from boarding a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Alicante this morning. The incident comes a week after reports of British expats being denied entry at Alicante Airport. A number of other passengers were reportedly told they could not travel, including an Italian woman, who was travelling back to her family in Spain. People in the UK are currently banned from travelling abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic and Brits are only permitted to leave the country if they have a reasonable excuse. The Government guidance says: “Whilst the stay in UK restrictions are in place, you are only allowed to leave the UK from England if you have a reasonable excuse.
MINIMISE TRAVEL WORK FROM HOME
The SUN reports: Brits have been urged to keep working from home if they can – even as lockdown begins to ease on April 12. No10 revealed workers won’t yet return to their offices unless they have to as people are urged to “minimise travel” and those who have been out of the office for months have been told to stay home for the time being if they can. Social distancing rules will still be in force, while outdoor gatherings must still be limited to six people or two households and Brits must not socialise indoors with anyone they don’t live with or have formed a support bubble with. But brighter days are coming after the PM and top aides agreed at a ‘Covid O’ meeting that unlocking can go on.
SERIOUS VIOLENCE CONTINUES IN NORTHERN IRELAND
From The Times: The Northern Ireland Policing Board has called for an end to attacks on police after a third night of violence. About 30 petrol bombs were thrown at officers in Co Antrim in what has been termed an orchestrated attack. Police were also attacked with bricks and bottles in Newtownabbey, on the outskirts of Belfast, for the second night in a row after violent scenes in the Sandy Row area of the city and in Londonderry on Friday. Three vehicles were hijacked and set alight at Cloughfern roundabout in the O’Neill Road area over the weekend. Police said it was the fifth night of disorder in Londonderry. Twelve officers were injured by a group throwing masonry, bottles, petrol bombs and fireworks.

NO JAB THEN KEEP AWAY FROM ME SAYS EDWINA CURRIE
The Express reports: Edwina Currie spoke on TV with GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Adil Ray about whether the Covid-19 vaccine should be made compulsory. The former MP made her feelings clear about having the vaccine and protested that people who refuse to have the vaccine should keep away from her and should stay at home.” I hear what everyone says about freedom but they’re so keen on freedom that they’re going to restrict my freedom and that of millions like me.” Comedian Abi Roberts also appeared on the ITV programme and said the proposal to issue vaccine passports reminded her of her experience as a child living in the USSR. Roberts insisted people should not be required to show their papers in order to access entertainment venues nor to travel abroad, warning about the influence such certification could have on individual freedoms.
COVID PASS ON THE CARDS SINCE LAST DECEMBER
The Guardian reports that a government-commissioned report in December examined how Covid certificates could be used to decide whether people should be allowed into sports events, pubs and other crowded spaces, months before ministers publicly confirmed the plan. The document prepared for NHS test and trace and seen by the Guardian shows that the research also looked into whether certificates could be made a condition of entry for family events such as weddings or even small casual gatherings. Dated 17 December and prepared by staff working for Zühlke Engineering, a Swiss-based consultancy that has worked closely on the UK’s Covid contact-tracing app, and has a number of staff embedded within the test-and-trace team. It details research into possible public attitudes to a Covid certificate, sometimes called a domestic Covid passport. This would use vaccination status, a recent negative Covid test or proof of coronavirus antibodies to allow people into potentially packed places when the country opens up.
BORIS WANTS COVID PASS UP AND RUNNING BY JUNE 21
The Daily Mail reports that Boris Johnson now wants domestic Covid passports in place by June 21 – but faces the prospect of an embarrassing Commons defeat after promising Tory rebels a vote on their introduction. Michael Gove is said to have made the offer to furious backbenchers appalled at the idea of forcing Britons to prove their vaccination status to enter pubs and other social hubs. Boris Johnson wants the scheme to be up and running for June 21, when the last social distancing measures are expected to be swept away. But the move could backfire on the Government, with Labour continuing to threaten to side with any Conservatives who refuse to back the move. Shadow Cabinet Office minister Rachel Reeves said today that Labour had ‘many reservations’ about the use of vaccine passports in the UK and questioned whether ‘we need a sledgehammer to crack a nut here’.
THOUSANDS OF TOURISTS A DAY ALLOWED INTO THE UK
The Times reports that thousands of tourists are being let into the country every day even though the government has tightened restrictions on British people going abroad. Hundreds are arriving on tourist visas issued by the Home Office, according to Border Force staff. One visa was granted to a tourist from Peru who said on their application form that the reason for their trip to the UK was to visit Big Ben Of the roughly 20,000 people arriving every day about 40 per cent, or 8,000, are tourists, according to figures compiled by Border Force staff. At Gatwick and the Eurostar terminals, as many as 80 to 90 percent of arrivals are tourists.
CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED AGAINST NATIONAL TRUST VIEW OF HISTORY
From the Evening Standard: National Trust members have launched a campaign against the charity’s one-sided view of history following the publication of a controversial slavery report. ‘Restore Trust’, which has 300 members, was set up following a backlash over the report detailing the links between a number of the National Trust’s properties and slavery. In an interim report published last year, the Trust detailed links between 93 of its properties and historic slavery and colonialism. The group says that they want to make all of the National Trust’s visitors feel welcome without demonising anyone’s history or heritage. On its website Restore Trust has a section hitting out on the slavery report saying it has serious shortcomings and is one-sided . The Charity Commission opened a case to examine concerns that the National Trust had acted outside its charitable purposes with the report but concluded that the National Trust acted in line with its charitable purposes and there were no grounds for regulatory action against it.
AND FINALLY
From the Daily Star: Loch Ness Monster fans claim they have filmed the mythical beast – in what they believe could finally prove its existence. Katlynn Wangle, 28, reportedly captured the legendary creature while checking a webcam stationed at the freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands. The footage shows a mysterious black shape swimming slowly in the water before disappearing beneath the waves near a tree. The clip has now been entered into the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.
” Covid pass oncards since last December “. What arrant nonsense .! It’s been ready and waiting on the front shelf in Whitehall. Lovingly dusted off regularly. It’s like a Civil Service shrine since 1954.
” Oh holy rationing, Thou wert good to us, in our glory days of the sainted Atloo and Beveridge! And some cretin beginning with C and a fat Bev and a little Bev
If Edwina Currie wants no contact with anyone who ‘might not’ have been jabbed…………….she should stay at home, hopefully forever !
Bill W. And keep her mouth shut too!
Edwina Currie on GMB. Well GMB is on ITV. It’s obvious her opinion was given an easy ride and prominence while Abi Roberts was not. And that report was in the Express!
It’s not just the BBC, and the Guardian. It really is the whole bl**dy lot, under the Dictator’s thumb.
As for Ms Salmonella ex MP, who dug her up.
Didn’t Bliar do well bringing ‘peace to Northern Ireland’, (not).
Tourists? Hotels are closed. Pubs are closed. All places of interest closed. And a killer pandemic raging across the land? I need an holiday…
And the ex pats can’t get out Matt. Shambolic. I don’t believe it. No wonder the Loch Ness monster has surfaced to take a look at it all.
NO NORMAL:
No normal ever if Boris & Co. get their way. Whether the virus is a high level threat or not it is certainly being used to impose control which, once implemented, will be difficult or impossible to rid ourselves of. Of course other government plans such as those based on the Great Global Warming Scam also provide opportunities such as that presented by the banning of fossil fuels rather than emission control whilst ignoring pollution generated by the alternatives.
Seems they are basing their plans on the writings of Orwell and Huxley and the intent has probably been in place for many years just waiting an opportunity.
This comment just about says it all. Why do most people refuse to wake up to this reality?
mary, we’ve probably all been putting our minds to the little jobs for too long.
NORMAL Jack! Well actually it is not ABnormal for it to snow at Easter, as it is here (Derbyshire), for the second time this year. I remember it happening before. But it is unusual to snow in April.
I wonder how the Great Global Warming Scam will explain it !! Oh of course Lies are Truth. It snows as the world gets warmer – simple.
Pauline. It feels more like the return to the little ice age to me! I lighted my stove at the beginning of October and barring two separate single days, it has not been allowed to go out since. I don’t think winter will ever end. Global warming???? Phooey!
You are so right Jack. This virus was a ‘gift’ from China – who probably also supplied the route map to finalising the imposition of the biotechnology dictatorship that is now threatening to consume us all. I’m sure that the globalist inclined politicians have been contemplating the setting up of this dictatorship for a long time. The COVID virus was the catalyst that brought it to fruition more quickly than they thought possible!
