Sir,

Since 2004, UK industrial electricity costs have risen by more than 160% and are becoming increasingly un-competitive, driving energy intensive businesses abroad, to countries where they often cause more CO2 emissions than before.

Now Stanley Johnson and Liam Fox (according to a report in the DT on 07-06-21) want to further penalise those who import goods from such countries – which have already taken U.K. jobs – because of their high CO2 emissions. So the long suffering British consumer is to be hit again by import prices, inflated by Carbon Border Tariffs, to give another twist to fuel poverty in the U.K.

Those gentlemen are burnishing their green credentials at enormous expense to us and our children – when they must already know that the total cost of the government’s 2050 zero carbon target is estimated at £100,000 per family. Which of their constituents would vote for that, knowing that the U.K. only emits around 1% of global human CO2 emissions? Why should we pay for their evangelism?

Respectfully, Roger Arthur

Sir,

We’re all aware that ‘conspiracy theories’ are bad – even when they turn out to have been spot-on, as in the current reports in the MSM about the ‘Wuhan Lab Escape’ of the SARS-2 covid virus. However, anyone who has followed the recent and latest reports about illegal immigrants crossing the Channel must surely wonder why it is that the Home Secretary Ms Patel is so manifestly unable to get to grips with this.

Her Border Force collaborates – and collaborated – with the French to ‘rescue’ those illegals and shepherd them to our shores. It’s not new, Nigel Farage has made videos about this a year ago already. Nothing but hot air came from Ms Patel’s Home office then, and nothing is coming now.

Never mind that allegedly she is talking to her French counterpart. Never mind that Boris Johnson is talking to Emmanuel Macron “about the “concerning rise” in Channel crossings by migrants and the need for both countries to “deter [them] from attempting this perilous journey”, as the DT reported yesterday (here).

It looks as if the mighty in Paris and London are simply talking for talking’s sake while the EU is refusing to accept those illegals who have been shown to have made false asylum claims. This means that none of those 1,500+ who came last year have been deported as they ought to have been: EU ‘safe countries’ from which they came – that’s France, mainly – simply don’t take them back.

Is this yet another way where Brussels is ‘punishing’ us for Brexit or would that statement be a conspiracy theory? Given that Johnson and Macron talk to each other I do wonder if they actually want to achieve something or if they’re happy to keep this people trafficking going – for reasons which we can only guess at.

Respectfully, Jack Russell

Sir,

During this covid year it became manifest for me that on the one hand government claims to ‘follow the science’, with graphs and numbers of cases, deaths and hospitalisations. On the other hand it became clear that the government and SAGE simply don’t trust us when we say we aren’t ill. Thus they demand incessantly that we get tested. Thus the still current attempts to create a ‘vaccine passport’, and if not an official one form the government then the unofficial ones created by dating apps, as we read about yesterday.

It is strange that these dating apps don’t demand actual proof but rely on the say-so of their customers. It seems to me that ‘following the science’ and providing factual proof isn’t necessary when this dating app and other covid claims are being pushed by the MSM. The latest is a hilarious report in the Daily Mail where ‘scientists’ have discovered that people who claimed to be vegetarians or ‘pescatarians’ experienced less severe covid symptoms. The report which you can read here then says that this earth-shattering finding was based on ‘self-reported observations’. I’m sorry but that’s not scientific! It is however a nice try by those who want us to become grass-eaters to ‘save the planet’ to scare us into changing our diet by using ‘covid’ as argument.

Since the PM, Boris Johnson, is hell-bent on making us all go green, and since we’ll surely be told next to save the NHS again by losing weight, is this going to be the next ‘follow the science’ argument to make us accept that new normal where government tells us what to eat and how to live? I’m disgusted.
