As a deflection, I prefer looking at this wolf …

Another rainy April morning … One news item splashed across the print editions’ front pages made me nostalgic and a bit sad: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Farewell Ms Miniskirt’ and nurses ‘set to reject’ pay deal” (link).

The miniskirt was a true revolution at that time, and not just for ‘fashion’.  “Swinging London” was the place to be, and the air of freedom ,compared to Berlin, was palpable. Despite all the restrictions still in place, people had so much more fun. There was this feeling that all was possible and that nobody was going to judge you for trying to look eccentric – not in London, that is. People were so polite compared to tightlipped censorious Germany. So rest in peace, Mary Q! You brightened the lives of so many of us, all those decades ago.

And now for something completely ‘different’! You have to hand it to the WHO and to our MSM ‘science’ editors, still working hard to provide the latest fuel for their fear porn. Last evening there was this brief report in ‘OffGuardian’: “DISCUSS: Arcturus – The latest “Covid variant” (link), referring to this report in the ‘Independent’. The author proceeded to point out some awkward ‘facts’, such as that this ‘news’ coincided, to the surprise of all (not!) with the latest ‘spring Booster campaign’ of the NHS and describing the latest symptoms of that variant (my emphasis):

“Runny nose – Headache – Fatigue (mild or severe) – Sneezing – Sore throat …or, you know, the same as every other strain of “Covid”, and every other endemic (and mostly harmless) respiratory infection. Except with one interesting new tweak, according to the Metro: ‘However itchy eyes or conjunctivitis has also been flagged as a possible new symptom of the variant – particularly in cases involving children.’ – Which is a very sneaky thing to say as we round into hay fever season, don’t you think?” (link)

Indeed I think so as well, especially since I’m having a slightly ‘worse than normal’ attack of hayfever right now (that’s why I’m running late …). The sneezing is especially horrid, let me tell you! It’s very hard to type when racked by a sneezing bout! Perhaps all of us hayfever sufferers have had covid all the time, for decades, without anybody being any the wiser?

There’s also news that the ‘leaker’ of those Pentagon papers has been arrested. These papers have been making the rounds, detailing what the US military thought about the situation in the Ukraine, at the beginning of last month. At first they’ve been pooh-pooh’d as Russian propaganda, to then be turned into the most ‘horrendous’ leak of secret material evah. And now the ‘leaker’ has been found and arrested:

“Airman with ‘dark view of US’ arrested over Pentagon leaks – Jack Teixeira, 21, suspected of running forum where young men shared racist memes — and state secrets” (link, paywalled)

To make quite certain that we draw the right conclusions, The Times’ report is meant to induce shudders and then relief because now we’re safe again:

“A 21-year-old airman has been arrested on suspicion of leaking highly-classified Pentagon documents which revealed secret US military intelligence on the war in Ukraine. A group of FBI agents and armoured vehicles were seen entering a property belonging to Jack Teixeira, a member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard who officials believe ran an online chat group in his spare time called “Thug Shaker Central”. In the most serious breach of American secrets in years, Teixeira, who was reportedly known in the group of “OG”, is suspected of leaking of more than 100 classified documents on the messaging platform Discord, where between 20 and 30 young men bonded over racist memes and a shared love of guns.” (link, paywalled)

I dunno if he was or wasn’t the actual leak perpetrator, but instead of praising the amazing sleuthing success exhibited by US Law Enforcement Agencies, I would like a few questions answered. For example: how ‘secure’ is the Pentagon when a 21-year-old in Massachusetts – not Washington DC – can have access to such secret documents?

Why, since these leaked papers were apparently online for weeks, are these agencies only now able to arrest the alleged perpetrator? Didn’t they notice this leak before and were only alerted once the stuff had made its way not just into that online group but across the whole internet? What does that say about Pentagon ‘security’?

Note well that the MSM can now fulminate about a ‘group of right-wing young men’ (toxic, you understand) and celebrate the arrest of that alleged leaker. They do no longer have to ask questions about the content of those papers, of what they say about the state of the war in the Ukraine and indeed of the state of the US Armed Forces.

We know that he MSM have long since abdicated their role of informing us, exchanging this for the role as government propaganda mouthpieces. So let’s look instead at  two articles where questions are being asked. Both are on ‘substack’ which is quickly turning into the place to go for thoughtful, well documented essays. Here’s the one by ‘Big Serge’, published at the start of this week, and here’s the latest by ‘Simplicius the Thinker’, published a few hours ago. They are both well worth reading in full, analysing what actually is said in those leaked documents.

That’s all I have for today – excuse me while I submit to another bout of sneezing. It might be ‘Arcturus’, mightn’t it, and not some dratted pollen of which the Met Office, always so helpful, warns! Have a good day.

Ed: Apologies, I missed seeing this outstanding report on yon Pentagon files yesterday, being somewhat incapacitated by a bad bout of hay fever (you try reading and writing on your PC while sneezing, eyes streaming …). So do read this article in ‘Moon Alabama’ – there’s more to this ‘leak’.
