Here’s a proper spiv – at home in the Westminster Blob

It’s only one month to the Summer Equinox but the whole country is shivering in the cold weather, the rain, the strong winds. No sign of that ‘climate emergency’ – unless we’ll be told that, sorry, ‘tis actually global cooling, with the next ice age coming down the line. Now that would be a ‘climate emergency’! While we’re mostly staying indoors because of the weather, not because of covid, I’ll present the fruits of my daily patrol of the MSM.

First and foremost: the multitude of articles in the MSM today, on the BBC and ‘that’ interview, on Princess Di and Mr Bashir. I don’t need to go into details but will point out that it’s quite wonderful to note the concerted outrage of the MSM’s opinion piece writers. The one point those critics make, all professional Westminster journalists, is that they knew about this scandal either at the time or when the BBC did the first whitewash of Bashir.

Well, naive peasant that I am, I would like to know why none of that lot said or wrote anything about it at that time. Did they fear of losing ‘access’, of not being invited to the fabulous Islington dinner parties? It reminds me of that ‘expenses scandal’ years ago where again ‘everybody knew’ after it broke, and where nobody dared to say anything for fear of losing their precious contacts, their ‘sources’.

If anyone believes that this attitude has gone, then please do think again! For example there is a piece in the DT by Fraser Nelson, editor of the Speccie, who tells us that poor BJ has his hands tied behind his back in regard to lockdowns and all of that – by SAGE, by Gove, and by the inevitable civil serpents (paywalled link). Oh how my heart bleeds for poor BoJo (not!)! He’s the PM – he surely has the power to override if not sack those people, hasn’t he.

If BJ can’t do without SAGE then he surely should be able to deal with yon snake in the grass, perhaps by defenestration, metaphorically speaking? Apparently Gove is demanding that a national ID be created. Well, BJ has a very short memory but we remember that he once said he’d eat such ID in front of whoever demands to see one. Ah well, smartphones are a bit harder to eat than cardboard.

And so to the next group of knaves: our GPs. Their ‘Union’, the BMA, is very upset – this is why:

“Doctors have mounted a backlash against orders to see patients face-to-face, with their union passing a vote of no confidence in NHS leaders. On Thursday, the British Medical Association’s (BMA) GP committee said medics had been let down by NHS England’s senior officials after patients were told they had the right to see GPs in person.” (paywalled link)

Goodness gracious me! Doctors passing a ‘vote of no confidence’ in the NHS? How is that even possible! Do they not sing from the same hymn sheet, especially when it’s about demanding more money? Here’s more:

“On Thursday, the BMA GP committee’s online meeting passed a motion saying the decision to publish the letter last week was “unacceptable” and calling for a public explanation. Medics said they were “outraged” by NHS England’s lack of understanding of the pressures facing general practice.” (paywalled link)

Oh dear – the poor things! One wonders how their colleagues in former years managed, for example during flu epidemics – all without lockdowns. This though is the actual reason why the GPs wrote that letter:

“Dr Richard Vautrey, the BMA GP committee England chairman, said tens of thousands of GPs felt “anger, frustration and disappointment” about the way they had been treated by health officials, accusing them of failing to “recognise and celebrate” the contribution GPs had made to the response to the pandemic. Dr Vautrey said the letter last week was “the final straw for many hard-working GPs, who have gone above and beyond over the last year”.” (paywalled link)

Are these ‘hard-working GPs’ the same ones who turned their surgeries into fortresses? Strewth! Yes, there were some GPs who did see their patients face-to-face. I bet they didn’t sign that letter. Were the poor dears expecting to be ‘celebrated’, perhaps with another national clapathon? Did they want to receive, at the very least, a letter from NHS bosses if not from Matt-the-Han himself, congratulating them on how well they’ve done? Better not mention ‘collateral damage’, the ever increasing deaths from causes other than covid, the undetected cancers, the untreated cancers because ‘the doctor can’t see you – we haven’t forgotten!

Perhaps we also need to have a clapathon for our intrepid ministers who are working flat out to turn our country into a modern-day example of a Stasi state. For example Brits are told not to bellyache about summer holidays – there are ‘quite a few’ countries they can choose from once the ‘amber’ states have been turned ‘green’. Ministers are working flat out to include Spain and France, but meanwhile this is where you can go:

“The borderline countries were Malta, Grenada, Cayman Islands, Fiji, British Virgin Islands, Finland and Caribbean islands thought to include Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos and Anguilla.” (paywalled link)

Well, if that doesn’t show that the Westminster cabal has become the modern-day nomenklatura, the only people with money to travel to those places, then I dunno! These snobs and knaves are happily telling us riff-raff to stay at home, knowing full well that we don’t have the resources to swan off to the Caribbean.

There’s another intriguing news item – about facebook. We’re informed that the chief of MI5 has accused that social media entity of permitting terrorists to use their platform unhindered because of installing stronger encryption which would block counterterrorism investigations by the security services (link, paywalled). Yes, well, perhaps BJ should have a word with Cleggie … However, facebook explained:

“We have no tolerance for terrorism or child exploitation on our platforms and are building strong safety measures into our plans, including using information like behavioural patterns and user reports to combat such abuse. We will continue to work with industry experts, law enforcement and security agencies to combat criminal activity and to keep people safe across all our platforms.” (link, paywalled)

Oh yes – why not ‘outsource’ our security to California, trusting their algorithms and faceless facebook ‘moderators’! What could possibly go wrong when they ‘protected’ us from the likes of President Trump … Well – here’s what has actually gone wrong, as the DM reports:

“Facebook has blamed a ‘technical issue’ for a drop in the amount of child abuse images and videos it has blocked on the site over the last six months. […] From January to March 2021, Facebook removed five million pieces of child abuse content – down from 5.4 million from October to December 2020. But both these quarters marked a massive slump in removals from the previous quarter – 12.4 million between July and September 2020.” (link)

The strange thing is though that at the same time, when according to facebook they were all struggling so much with covid and lockdowns and ‘technical glitches’, they were perfectly capable of doing this:

“In the first three months of 2021, Facebook took down 8.8 million pieces of bullying and harassment content, up from 6.3 million in the final quarter of last year. Some 9.8 million pieces of organised hate content were also removed, up from 6.4 million in late 2020. Meanwhile, 25.2 million pieces of hate speech were removed, down on the 26.9 million pieces removed in the last three months of 2020.” (link)

Far be it from me to allege that facebook prefers to fight ‘haters’ rather than paedophiles or terrorists … and far be it from me to suggest that people might ponder to abandon their facebook pages, just as most of us have abandoned the BBC, pillars of our modern society that these entities both are!

I leave you with the latest accusation thrown at us plebs. It’s our fault when “we” can’t reach BJ’s and Carrie’s goal of de-carbonising the whole country because we stupidly insist on driving our old cars which spew out more CO2 per km than the new ones built in 2020. To make crystal clear what these knaves and spivs want, see this:

“The conclusions [that old cars should be scrapped], in a study by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, were released days after MPs criticised the speed of the transition to zero-emission cars. The cross-party public accounts committee said that the government lacked a clear plan to promote the use of battery electric cars as an alternative to petrol and diesel.” (link, paywalled)

Any money you have left after holidaying in the Caribbean must therefore go to buying new electric cars. Now. Never mind that there are hardly any charging points – this is about that sacred goal of green cr*ppery. Never mind that the planet would be better served if we kept our cars going rather than waste money and resources on first scrapping them and then getting new ones. We’ve not forgotten the push by government to make us switch from petrol to diesel because “Green!!” – only to be told later: no, sorry, diesel bad- petrol good, and now ‘electricity even better’ because we have such great renewables …!

From the BBC, the BMA, the Cabinet and SAGE all the way down to motor manufacturers and traders: snobs, spivs and knaves wherever one looks.

KBO!
