Off you go, sheep: shop, travel, and forget about CV-19!

 

The other day a friend drove me into town. I needed to withdraw cash from my bank. The High Street was eerily empty. However, I was not the only one visiting the cash machine. An elderly gent was there before me. As I approached he immediately scurried to the far side, pressing himself against the wall. I felt like a leper. This is how ‘social distancing’ is affecting us. Anyone who uses facebook (not me) or neighbourhood websites will know that ‘social distancing’ is still the main concern of ordinary people, and that the ‘rulz police’, i.e. our neighbours, are still very much in the ‘keep away, keep inside’ camp.

Meanwhile, we’re told that the 2-metre-rule is being ‘revised’ while the Chancellor apparently is pondering to introduce some temporary cuts to VAT to ‘tempt us back’ to High Street shops:

“Rishi Sunak, the chancellor, hinted that a temporary VAT cut was an option as he said that a resurgence of “animal spirits” was critical to protecting jobs. He is considering either a blanket or a targeted reduction in consumption taxes as retailers demand an emergency stimulus. They say that the combination of nervous shoppers and strict social-distancing rules mean that the effect of reopening non-essential retail will be limited and leave many businesses in danger of going bust.” (link, paywalled)

Will the next slogan be ‘Go shopping – Protect jobs’? Will we be exhorted to spend our money and stop fearing that virus? Won’t we need to ‘Protect our NHS’ anymore?

Meanwhile, “Travel Bosses” have written to the Home Secretary Ms Patel, telling her to resign if she loses their court case on travel quarantine (link). While this latest quarantine ‘rule’ is certainly a fine example of (in no particular order) ‘stable door – bolted- locked- horse’, one wonders why those ‘travel bosses’ aren’t accused of sacrificing lives for their own profit by the usual CV-19 commentariat in the MSM. Note also that suddenly the ‘lethal danger’ of a 2nd spike is negligible when it’s about attacking Ms Patel’s quarantine rule.

Finally note that all those ‘tourist destinations’ in the Mediterranean countries were ‘closed’ until now, that we were told to stay away, from Spain to France to Wales and Cornwall. It surely must be a coincidence that those travel bosses are now clamouring for ‘no quarantine’ when we read that Spain and France are desperate to declare themselves ‘open for tourists’, with Macron saying that France has ‘won a first victory’ against CV-19, opening every business in Paris (link).

The same authorities, so strict in regard to enforcing those social distancing rules, are now falling over themselves to make them go away. They all seem to believe that us peasants, having been herded into our locked-down homes, can now be herded out of them because: “Teh Economy”. Suddenly, ‘saving lives’ doesn’t seem to matter.

It is moving to read that ‘voters are strongly against any change’ when it’s about keeping ‘rulz’ while the same ‘voters’, in the guise of MSM authors, have kept quiet when BLM demos blatantly broke those rules. In the aftermath of the weekend demos the chair of the Met’s Police Federation now demands that Ms Patel ban all of them ‘on health grounds’, according to this non-paywalled report in the DT. A bit late that, I’d have thought, especially when I recall the many reports of police officers ‘banning’ people from sitting peacefully on park benches.

I surely must simply be cynical when I wonder if the appearance of patriots to defend war memorials and statues at the last demo on Saturday has anything to do with this sudden demand. Mr Marsh certainly didn’t ask for such ban after the earlier BML demos. I wonder especially because the PM has written a paywalled article in the DT – here’s a non-paywalled summary – smearing all who stood to defend those statues:

“It was utterly absurd that a load of far-Right thugs and bovver boys this weekend converged on London with a mission to protect the statue of Winston Churchill. It was right that a good number should have been arrested. They were violent. They were aggressive towards the police. They were patently racist. There is nothing that can excuse their behaviour.” (paywalled link)

The photo accompanying this article shows those ‘bovver boys’: veterans standing peacefully in front of a war memorial. It’s also instructive to note that ‘our MSM’ fell all over themselves to show a photo of a black man rescuing an white one – never asking how come that this man needed rescuing.

A truly sickening photo however is at the top of a comprehensive report in Breitbart London (here). It provides the clue: thanks to the denunciations in the MSM, now picked up by the PM, of white patriots as ‘extreme right wing hooligans’, any white male can be attacked by BLM ‘activists’ because his skin colour means he’s a fascist. If that’s not racism I don’t know what is!

I highly recommend you read James Delingpole’s article in Breitbart London here. The photos and his comments are all you need to get a perspective of what happened, a perspective sadly missing in ‘our MSM’.

The virtue signalling by councils and institutions meanwhile moves on. It’s no longer just statues which must be taken down to appease BLM:

“Blue plaques will be reviewed for their “problematic connotations” as the spotlight of anti-racism campaigners widens from statues to other memorials. English Heritage told The Times that it was assessing all 950 of the plaques it maintained in London to determine which ones celebrated figures who were racist or linked to the slave trade, for example.” (link, paywalled)

Saying that they are only ‘thinking about providing connotations’ is not the point – the point is that they’ve caved in to BLM’s campaign to destroy our history. No surprise then that a London University is planning to ‘de-colonise’ its library by removing ‘certain’ books from their shelves (here). There’s more – according to this report yesterday, google had removed pictures of Churchill from their search results while keeping those of Stalin and Hitler.

Back to Lockdown and the whole shambles of ‘rulz’ and ‘tests’ – all so keenly promoted over the months by ‘our MSM’. I came across what has to be a first. ‘Reporters’, having delved into what ‘the government’ did, actually wrote the following:

“The Government quietly relaxed strict controls to stop the spread of coronavirus in hospitals at the height of the crisis, the Daily Telegraph can reveal. Whitehall officials watered down key aspects of the infection control guidance for healthcare providers as the pandemic worsened.” (link)

“Whitehall officials”? So it wasn’t Johnson who stomped on ‘our NHS’ but Whitehall  mandarins? Well I never! There’s more:

“Scrutiny of amendments made by Public Health England shows that healthcare providers were instructed to avoid using temporary staff when assessing possible coronavirus patients because of the risk of spreading the virus back in January, but this guidance was later updated in mid-March to state that temporary staff were permitted after all. The guidance published on 10th January stated: “The use of bank or agency staff should be avoided.” In mid-March this sentence was removed and the only reference to temporary staff in the guidance stated that “bank, agency and locum staff should follow the same deployment advice as permanent staff”. “ (link)

PHE amended guidelines and not Johnson? Well I never! There’s more, and it’s the first time a broadsheet surreptitiously acknowledges that CV-19 was spread thanks to ‘Our NHS’:

“Health chiefs have written to every hospital and GP practice instructing NHS hospitals to take “further action to tackle infections acquired in the NHS itself”. The move was prompted by concern that Britain remains stuck in lockdown because it has been unable to get a grip on outbreaks in hospitals and care homes – which continue to leak out into local communities and increase the risk of a second wave of infection.” (link)

And – it’s ‘Britain’ needing to get a grip – not PHE, not ‘our NHS’, not Whitehall ‘officials’? Well! There’s also a careful back-pedalling in ‘our MSM’ regarding those tests. After having clamoured for ‘tests-tests-tests’ as the only way to ‘cure’ us from catching CV-19, after having lambasted Johnson for not doing it earlier, like in January, we now read that these fabulous tests aren’t all that good (link, paywalled), missing 25% of cases.

The actual science – i.e. that based on observations and research by clinicians as opposed to ‘modellers’ and other non-clinicians – seems to show that our bodies’ immune system has been dealing with that CV-19 infection without producing antibodies, as this interesting article describes. It’s not paywalled, so do read it.

I leave you with the Brexit news that Johnson will be playing ‘hard man’ when he talks to EU leaders later today, insisting on a deal by October or else (link). RemainCentral however simply had to report the concern of the WTO head:

“The head of the World Trade Organisation warned the prime minister yesterday, however, that relying on WTO terms under no-deal would slow Britain’s recovery from coronavirus, saying that sticking closer to present arrangements would be better for jobs.” (link, paywalled)

There it is: stay in the EU because: ‘CV-19 economic recovery’ – as if no other country in the EU is having difficulties with that recovery. I’m just waiting for Remainers to demand we must stay in because: ‘BLM’,  because we cannot possibly deal with this burning issue once we’re Out.

Cynical – moi? Whatever gave you that idea!
