No more U-Turns!
First and foremost: a piece of brilliant news! ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, in the remastered version sung by Vera Lynn in 1994, has reached the top of the UK iTunes chart – a few hours after the actor Laurence Fox tweeted an appeal to his followers. Now let’s do the same for ‘Rule Britannia’!
‘Tis odd though that the sketch writers in ‘Our MSM’ didn’t propose to replace the first line of that song with “Land of Fear and U-Turns”. That would describe the state of the nation, as seen through the collective eyes of the editors, reporters and opinion piece writers. However, they are so embroiled in their eternal campaign to ‘educate’ us peasants that they simply don’t notice that they are being tossed on waves of hysteria, waves of their own making, waves produced by the laydees who have reached the top spots in the various entities that make up the Westminster Coalition.
I’m sorry if this sounds anti-feminist, but it’s true: the men ‘on top’ are either feminists in suits and cravats, slavishly regurgitating the arguments of their ‘leading women’, or they are driven to follow unthinkingly what the wimmin’in politics’ are demanding or doing. For example, I give you the latest U-Turn by the PM: all pupils from year 7 onwards will have to wear masks in school, sort-of:
“New guidance will apply in secondary schools only and will require all pupils in Year 7 and above in England to wear face coverings in corridors and communal areas but not in classrooms. It will be mandatory in schools that are in local lockdown areas and left to the discretion of head teachers in the rest of the country.” (paywalled link)
Don’t even think that this guidance came because Ms Sturgeon has made mask-wearing ‘mandatory in communal areas’ in schools for that age group – certainly not! After all, it’s based on ‘science’, innit like, to ‘prevent infections’ – or is it? See this:
“Government scientific advisers have not been asked to review the new guidance but ministers believe it will boost confidence among parents. A senior government source said: “This is a scientific approach – we know schools are safe but in areas of high transmission we do have to be even more careful.” The change comes despite ministers insisting for days that there would be no change to guidelines, which stated that face coverings were “not recommended” in schools.” (paywalled link)
If that’s not a U-Turn, I’d like to know what is! And look at this highly ‘scientific’ reason: masks to be worn in order to ‘increase confidence’! Do these people never look at polls? Have they forgotten the one a week or so ago, showing that footfall in High Street shops have fallen since mask-wearing was made mandatory in England?
Perhaps ‘science’ is now just ‘behavioural sciene’, attempting to nudge us plebs into the direction they want, ending with total submission. I wonder if these government ministers were made aware of a paper published in the BMJ, reported in The Times, with this ‘advice’:
“Rules should vary depending on whether events are happening indoors or outside and what activity is taking place, they argue, as well as the level of ventilation and whether face coverings are being worn.” (link, paywalled)
That sounds fatally like allowing people to decide for themselves. Can’t have that, can we! Thus the ‘guidance’, and certainly not because Ms Sturgeon did it first! Staying with medical ‘issues’, here’s another item which looks as if government health ‘chiefs’ are preparing us to accept a CV-19 vaccine, regardless of its working or its safety – for our ‘protection’, of course:
“Ministers will ask the NHS to administer flu jabs not normally licensed for use in Britain as part of an expanded vaccination programme this winter. Health chiefs want to vaccinate half the population, twice as many as usual, to reduce pressure on the NHS and prevent hospitals being hit by a combined surge of flu and Covid-19 patients.” (link, paywalled)
This noble aim can apparently not be fulfilled because of ‘supply’ issues. That’s why GP ‘leaders’ now ask government to ensure there are enough jabs to go around so they can ‘manage patient expectation’. It’s not ‘patient expectation’ which needs to be managed, it’s government’s and ‘Our MSM’ hysteria. Next, see this:
“However, the decision to enlarge the programme was made only last month, long after vaccine orders are normally placed and manufacturers have planned accordingly. A source told The Times that this had meant governments across Europe being “really flexible” and agreeing to use vaccines “not fully licensed”, despite being used in other markets.” (link, paywalled)
Let’s follow those European governments – we’re too helpless, right? Now look at the weasel words used:
“The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency confirmed it would have to approve a medicine for sale and supply in Britain. A spokesman said: “There are provisions in legislation for the temporary authorisation of supply, if this were judged necessary for the protection of public health.” (link, paywalled)
Note well: ‘temporary authorisation’ to use vaccines previously not deemed acceptable in the UK can be given if government deems it ‘necessary’ to protect ‘Our NHS’ – because that’s what they mean when they warble about ‘public health’. It’s a nice preparation for using a CV-19 vaccine, any vaccine, on us guinea pigs, safe or not. Even if ‘our’ vaccine won’t be ready, many other countries are rushing to have their CV-19 ready by December. “We” can surely buy some of those, from Russia to Greece to China. Patient safety, side effects: no worries!
When it comes to weaselling out, the ‘BC’ (it doesn’t deserve to be called ‘BBC’ since it’s certainly no longer British!) leads the charge. As we uneducated patriotic oiks have shown signs of resistance they and their friends in the rest of the MSM present us with a creepy back-pedalling, trying to show us that the Westminster Coalition didn’t really mean it. Their twisting and turning in the face of a veritable gale of our disapproval is delicious:
“Lord Hall, who is to be replaced in the role by Tim Davie in one week’s time, said it was the “right decision” for this year, as the corporation appeared to backtrack with a statement promising the song would be back in full for 2021.” (paywalled link)
Yes, of course: their decision was only made because: ‘Covid!’ Nought to do with BLM and ‘woke’. Above all, never mind that many in the BC have campaigned for some time to drop those ‘orrible songs:
“The BBC Proms has already come under pressure to ban songs appearing to glorify Britain’s imperial past, with classical music industry sources suggesting the Covid-19 measures were a convenient reason to make changes. The very public fall-out lays bare the chaos at the centre of BBC decision-making, as it faced complaints from those who believe Rule Britannia should be banned outright for its reference to slavery, and those furious at it caving to what they see as “woke” culture wars.” (paywalled link)
No, dears – this isn’t about ‘woke culture wars’, that’s another convenient excuse behind which those who despise us patriots are now trying to hide. This ‘culture war’ goes back a long time, driven by ‘musicians’ who are offended – by how they themselves interpret the texts:
“[…] the executive producer of Songs of Praise said Britain should apologise for slavery rather than glorifying it. It is understood that the corporation has been considering how to deal with the song for some time, having faced petitions from musicians to remove it from the Last Night altogether.” (paywalled link)
All those musicians and their leaders obviously lack in historical knowledge, especially in regard to the context of the times when ‘Rule Britannia’ was written and composed. Both Charles Moore in the DT yesterday (paywalled link) and Oliver Kamm in The Times this morning (link, paywalled) provide textual and historical analyses, saying that ‘Rule Britannia’ is about freedom, not slavery.
That is of course far too highbrow for our ‘music industry’ proponents and for the BC. After all, they have successfully swept under the carpet the role played by Great Britain in abolishing slavery frst and then spending time and resources in suppressing that trade, thanks to the Royal Navy.
I wonder if there are two more U-Turns on the cards. For example, resistance seems to develop in the Armed Forces against that scrapping of our tanks because of ‘budgetary restraints’. The most prominent of them is the former Chief of Staff, General Lord Dannatt who is warning about this in The Times, joined by some MPs(link, paywalled).
The other prospective U-Turn is the outcry by Johnson who “has rubbished suggestions he could step down in the next six months, labelling them as “absolute nonsense” (paywalled link). Yeah right, we’ll believe him, especially since ‘senior sources’ have been so very helpful explaining to the DT that:
“He is buzzing with energy the whole time. This whole thing is absurd.” Another added: “It is just absolutely bizarre. I have never heard anything further from the truth. It’s utter nonsense.” The second source said there were “no signs of long Covid-19”, the condition that has plagued some sufferers of the disease many months after infection.” (paywalled link)
Johnson and these sources ought to take a leaf out of the BC’s playbook: using CV-19 as excuse is perfectly acceptable and would surely be better for him and the Tory Party than acknowledging he’s not up to the job.
I leave you with the news that the Ofqual chief, Ms Collier, has resigned in the wake of the exam scandal. But never fear, everything will stay the same at the top:
“Roger Taylor, its chairman, will keep his post. […] Amanda Spielman, head of Ofsted, will help to run the beleaguered organisation and Ms Collier, a career civil servant, will be temporarily replaced by Dame Glenys Stacey, her predecessor.” (link, paywalled)
Mandarins paying the price for incompetence? Perish the thought! Just as those at the top of the BC will keep on blathering about how ‘orrible our country is, with no consequences for their jobs, so those at the top of the Westminster Coalition will never pay the price for their lies and incompetence.
But watch out for U-Turns – they will come, accompanied by more weasel words.
KBO!
Thanks for your excellent analysis!

I’ve known several psychopaths. Rule one is that they seem normal but a bit of being a bluffer in a harmless way. Nothing like Bond villains. They leave a trail of destruction and disbelief behind them while not being able to see a thing wrong with what they do. Not that I’m mentioning any names..
Did i relate a walk down Brick Lane ? moderate crowd, lots of dossers and beggars , some known to live locally.
Some face masks.
Big queue for salt beef
I await news of the piles of corpses , R factors , new spikes etc
Even the Woke have woken up
Hokey-pokey
Take your face mask off,
Put your face mask on,
Take your face mask off and shake it all about.
You do the Hokey-pokey
And U turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Oh,oh, the Hokey-pokey
Whoa, the Hokey-pokey
Whoa, the Hokey-pokey
On off, on off, rah, rah, rah
Super! That sums it up.
Thanks Viv you have raised many memories in my mind of how our country has been gradually going down hill for years. That may seem an odd thing to say but it focuses the mind on what needs to be done. So it is a good thing.
You never need to apologise for sounding ‘anti feminist’. It actually IS the Feminist Lobby who are completely out of line with any sensible opinions. The so called ‘Males’ who kow tow to them, are simply sh*t scared of losing their jobs/salaries/positions.
As for Boris Johnson. I wonder if it is not so much the long term effects of Covid but rather the long term effects of sharing no.10 with ‘the mother of his child’ that has made him lose the plot !
We didn’t VOTE HER into no.10 did we! We didn’t invite Covid in either but wasn’t THAT brought over by the EU negotiators !
A Yougov poll on the wearing of masks in school yesterday was running at 70 per cent against but then mysteriously dropped to 29 per cent against over the course of one hour. This organisation is not independent and is being used to push the governments’ narrative.
With aspirations to emulate his supposed hero Sir Winston Churchill, Boris Johnson isn’t even on the first rung to emulating the Second World War leader. He is simply not a patch on Churchill and never will be judging by his prime ministerial performance to date. Churchill wasn’t a man to mince his words, wasn’t one to hide away, wasn’t one one to shy away from making difficult decisions, wouldn’t have spoken about mothballing tanks thereby reducing the strike capabilities of an army about to go to war , and the list goes on. Johnson may well have written a passable book on Churchill but that doesn’t make him an expert on the man, nor does it mean that he himself is a Churchillian figure. No, Johnson will instead go down as one of this country’s most incompetent prime ministers to date. On the strength of the past 8 months, apart from taking this country out of the political part of the European Union on the 31st January 2020, his only success so far, I don’t think on balance the history books will look upon him in a terribly favourable light. A prime minister who won an 80 seat majority who then dithered and prevaricated over the EU trade talks, the English Channel migrant crisis and Covid 19, promoted utter incompetents into high office, and wasted the goodwill of millions who under normal circumstances would never have voted for him. I am not interested in a prime minister saying ‘it might be a bit difficult’ insofar as returning migrants to France, and saying things like ‘our friends and partners’ insofar as the EU negotiators who are not interested in a proper negotiation. I want a prime minister to be fighting for the good of this country and its existing citizens, I want a prime minister who is upbeat and positive, who will defend this country’s history and culture. In other words everything that Boris Johnson isn’t.
So far he, Frost, and Cummings, are still in control. He just needsto stay firm. The only fly in the whatever is Hag Mays WA, but parliament I think can repeal it or modify bits. I vaguely understand.
It seems to me, probably incorrectly, that all politicians in order to look as though they are in charge of economies, luv Massive Trade Deals ( Disaster ). Neither they nor the Civil Service have a clue. They earnestly believe that the whole mountains of crap of 2.5% here and 29 % there, rules regs and WTO tosh, are the life blood of THEIR country. That comes later. Do drug importers look up WTO for a shipload of stuff. Ridiculous.
So the danger is that his party, the BBC, and the establishment in its ignorance and stupidity forces their hands.
It is important that in their own little world they do not destroy the country’s ability to recover, and to do that all we need is protection from TAX ( Particularly VAT, overlarge and intrusive ) a and wild and swarming union agitators.
The mess they have caused in teaching in a few weeks is, with excess hormonal activity, unbelievable
PS The Civil Service will Scream and wriggle at the end of VAT and civilisation ( Like rationing ).
PPS i only look at the stats that matter. I though COVID was over.
The BLM protest in Central London descended into violence on the evening of June 6, the 76th anniversary of D day. Some police took the knee which shocked me to the core. They were attacked anyway, and the Cenotaph vandalised with BLM graffiti as was Sir Winston Churchill ‘s statue. I couldn’t believe the scenes that I was seeing. Nigel Farage had films of the dreadful scenes,as did others on twitter and facebook. I turned on BBC News at Ten to learn more. Not a mention. I couldn’t believe that our PM didn’t address the nation that night. It was clear that the police had lost control of our capital city. The first that most people knew of it were the photos on the front page of the next morning’s papers of the WPC being seriously injured as she was thrown from her horse when it bolted in terror into traffic lights. Boris went AWOL.The following week veterans went to London to defend our monuments. Boris had something to say then and insulted their presence, seeming to lump them in with the ‘right wing thugs’ and the football lads that the BBC reported on who were elsewhere. Strange that BBC covered the March that weekend! Boris is truly appalling. He gives no leadership or direction and is totally out of his depth. Not a scrap of Churchillian qualities in the blond buffoon.
“the latest U-Turn by the PM: all pupils from year 7 onwards will have to wear masks in school, sort-of:”
It’s becoming more and more obvious. They’re looking to extend the ‘pandemic’ by any means necessary. Nothing to do with science. It’s politics. Perhaps even corrupt politics.
Looking back I now believe that the whole thing has been political theatre. From wheeling infected people into care homes resulting in a spike in deaths to switching from deaths to cases while ramping up testing, and now that fearmongering’s stopped working forcing the wearing of masks in shops and now in schools – its all about keeping us and now also our children, frightened.
And I almost forgot: Don’t be encouraging people to take their vitamin D3 and whatever you do don’t mention hydroxychloroquine! Why? They want us to take their vaccine. When it’s ready, that is.
The trouble is that the measures they’ve forced us to take so far are likely to have been effective at slowing the development of heard immunity which would otherwise have established itself over the summer months with relatively few fatalities. (As it has in Sweden.)
I watch this space with interest. This is not the flu. It’s a corona virus. In other words, a very bad cold. There isn’t a cold vaccine because Corona viruses evolve quickly.

My heart bleeds for today’s children; they’re having no childhood, no fun, no joy, totally unnatural upbringing, and I shudder to think what they’ll turn out like. Filthy perverted sex education, forced to wear a wet nappy on their faces making them ill; indoctrinated, facing a rotten future as farm animals, slaves, guinea pigs for the soulless psychopaths who have hijacked the world. Abetted of course by rotten corrupt politiicians and civil servants all over the world. No other word for the vermin running the show than pure evil. I hope they get their just deserts somhow some day. I dread reading ID every day now as I’m terrified of what I’m going to read.
Michael….Johnson is just copying Nicola Sturgeon. She seems to lead on policy. I have no time for her politics, but nevertheless she is a pretty shrewd politician, and fight’s for Scotland’ cause. I only wish Johnson did the same for England the rest of the UK. I just don’t think he has an original thought in his head.
“and fight’s for Scotland’ cause.”
Favours mass immigration and is proposing the most repression on free speech in the Western world. She does not fight for the Scottish people but represents the biggest threat to them.
Reported elsewhere earlier this month that the the BBC maintains 5 orchestras and a Chamber Choir, all full time employee’s and presumably furloughed due to social distance covid restrictions. In case local radio is your scene don’t worry the BBC has 40. No monopoly there then , and the BBC also supports ‘ local democracy reporters’ in local and regional newspapers. It’s tentacles are everywhere which includes a world wide reach which is why the ‘ government’ any government that is is so keen on it.
atticus, with all due respect I think you will find that the BBC no longer employs any musicians at all now. At one time there was a BBC Big Band and a BBC Concert Orchestra, but these were privatised some years ago as the BBC considered them out of date and quite wrongly believed that few people listened to that type of music. The clueless progamme controllers at the BBC believe that music was invented when the Beatles came to the fore in the early 1960s, and nothing existed beforehand. So much for their University education, they forget or unaware that there were BBC Dance Bands of the 1930’s led by Henry Hall and Jack Payne and others who all broadcast on the radio. The BBC Big Band and BBC Concert Orchestra still exist, but in name only, and the same will apply to the other orchestras.
I liked “Friday Night is Music Night”
I also remember “Grand Hotel” on Sunday Nights
“Un(e) program de music layjair interpretay Tom Jenkins et son Orcheste”
(Apologies for rotten French) (No I Didn`t say `the`)
Thanks Colin , I rechecked the information and found that there are actually 8 groups all together including 5 in-house orchestras and the BBC choral singers who are the UK’s only full-time professional chamber choir, and along with the five orchestras, they are full-time salaried musicians whose pay is negotiated with the Musicians’ Union (United Kingdom). According to reports the head of radio three Alan Davey said there were ‘no plans to cut a performing group’ which according to David Lister of the ‘Independant’ the BBC spends £32.5 million.
Boris Johnson is perfectly up to the job. Sit back and mumble a bit against it while doing nothing to stop the march of the Marxists. He mumbled about the BBC and then added ‘they don’t want me to say this’. Who?
