‘Orange Man Bad’ because left-wing ‘justice’ says so!
Sorry I’m late – I’ve had a bad night thanks to the somewhat wet’n windy weather here which continues as I write. We even had some thunderclaps.
The news according to the Westminster MSM this morning are playing upon the general mawkishness of us peasants: “Newspaper headlines: ‘Justice for Olivia’ and ‘lover shopped killer’” (link). There’s one other news item which our dear chief news editors sadly had no time to put on their print front pages except for the grauniad which did manage it. Is their news set-up better, are their printing presses faster than those of the rest?
This news item is that Donald Trump has been indicted by the grand jury in Manhattan. The online editions have now put this at the top of their pages. Mind you, at the time of writing the DM still leads with the earth-shattering news that Ms G. Paltrow has won her ski-slope accident case. The indictment of President Trump isn’t quite top-spot material, apparently (link). The DT’s report is here, paywalled, with lots of photos of protesters.
Lower down in their report we find The Times writing that the Grand Jury sat ‘in secret’, i.e. ‘behind closed doors’, so no public allowed. Furthermore,
“The charges were filed under seal, according to sources close to the inquiry. Trump is expected to turn himself in and be arraigned on Tuesday, when the charges will be unsealed, according to his lawyer Susan Necheles.” (link, paywalled).
Oh – Mr Trump must have done something truly ghastly, correct? I had to go to the conservative US online publication “National Review” to find a concise report on what this indictment was about:
“The indictment accuses Trump of falsifying business records in relation to the hush-money payments. Daniels claimed in the final days of the 2016 presidential election that she had previously had a sexual affair with Trump. Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about her claims. Prosecutors claim Trump falsified internal business records to conceal the reimbursement payments to Cohen as legal expenses. Cohen claims Trump was aware of the misleading record keeping.” (paywalled link)
There is a bit more to this indictment case. I recommend you visit Breitbart News where you’ll find a whole slew of reports and articles on this indictment on their front page. Here in Blighty The Times is at their sniffy best, stating that Mr Trump:
“[…[ has repeatedly vilified Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, who is understood to be bringing felony charges connected to the alleged payment scheme.” and has “called Bragg a “disgrace”, adding: “Rather than stopping the unprecedented crimewave taking over New York City, he’s doing [President] Biden’s dirty work.” (link, paywalled).
Spot on, Mr Trump, I say! In addition, there’s a report published on the 22nd of March by the US alt media publication PJ Media, under the title “Soros-Funded DA Alvin Bragg May Have Hidden Exculpatory Evidence in Trump Case” (link, paywalled). Scrolling down I found this rather interesting paragraph:
“[… ]Bragg may have deliberately hidden exculpatory evidence from the grand jury. According to Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, it appears that the [sic] Bragg may have suppressed hundreds of pages of evidence that could potentially exonerate President Trump in this case.”(link, paywalled)
There’s also the first opinion piece in PJ Media where were read:
“The grand jury decided to indict Trump after hearing testimony involving Trump paying $150,000 to Playboy model Karen McDougal. Trump allegedly had a 10-month affair with MacDougal that began in 2006. It wasn’t immediately clear if Trump would be charged for the payment to MacDougal—which seems unlikely—or if the payment would be used to show a “pattern of behavior.” (link, paywalled)
Some behind-the scenes political shenanigans might have taken place because the NY District Attorney’s office allegedly claimed that “the grand jury would take a month-long break from the Trump case’”. Perhaps yon District Attorney was told to get a move on because apparently, there are other indictments on the horizon. NR reports:
“A federal judge ruled earlier this month that special counsel Jack Smith’s team had enough evidence to support the claim that Trump “intentionally concealed” the existence of classified documents in his possession from his attorneys, ABC News first reported. U.S. Judge Beryl Howell said that prosecutors had made a “prima facie showing that the former president had committed criminal violations,” therefore dismissing the attorney-client privileges invoked by two of his lawyers.” (paywalled link)
I leave you with two comments, one by Mr Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence who said: “The fact that the Manhattan DA thinks that indicting President Trump is his top priority, I think . . . just tells you everything you need to know about the radical left in this country.” (paywalled link), the other by the comment piece author in PJ Media:
“The indictment is sure to please commies—like your pink-hair, trans-pansexual brother-in-law—and will likely embolden Trump supporters, and perhaps even people on the fence about Trump.” (link, paywalled)
I’ve gone on at length about this indictment not just because it’s a blatant case of politically driven ‘justice’ but because it provides brilliant evidence for politically-driven deflection.
Who is now talking about Hunter Biden’s case of suppressing evidence of his porn involvement, documented on a laptop he declared ‘stolen’? Who is now talking about both Biden’s involvement with gas firms in the Ukraine, never mind their connections to China? Where are the judges ruling that there’s a case of Biden having committed criminal violations by ‘concealing the existence of classified documents in his possession’, e.g. in a garage?
That’s all I have for today. When ‘Justitia’ is driven by lefty politics, against Mr Trump over there, Brexit over here, who will protect us against politically-driven justicial abuse? Have a good day.
In another news email just in I found this quote regarding how a Grand Jury works (my emphasis):
“It is not all that difficult for a prosecutor to convince a grand jury to indict a suspected criminal. There is no defense attorney for the accused person present; there is no cross-examination of witnesses. The grand jury, made up of approximately 16 to 23 adults, only hears the prosecutor’s arguments, evidence, and testimony from witnesses chosen by the prosecution. After the presentation, the grand jury votes in secret, and it does not need to be unanimous; according to the U.S. Department of Justice, at least twelve jurors must concur to issue an indictment.
The grand jury votes in secret on whether it believes that enough evidence exists to charge the person with a crime, which is a slightly different and lower standard than whether the accused is guilty of the crime.“
Or, as the same source writes:
“The famous saying, “You can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich,” is meant to emphasize that an indictment is not an indication of guilt, and that a skilled prosecutor can usually sway a grand jury to believe almost anything.”
I think these quotes are useful to understand what this indictment actually means. We’ll see if the NY Courts will make Mr Trump do the famous ‘perp walk’, with handcuffs and all …
Just seen a poll of democrats as to who should succeed Biden if he doesn’t run. 51% don’t know and the front runner is Kamala Harris at a mere 13%. LoL. Put another way, if Trump runs he will win. His 30% lead over Ron DeSantis means they have to stop Trump – by any means necessary.
New York’s DA has spent his career downgrading felonies to misdemeanours, but is doing the opposite with Trump. Hilary Clinton used campaign funds to pay for the Steele dossier (to try and frame Trump) and she was merely fined for her misdemeanour of dodgy bookkeeping. The whole thing stinks and everyone can see it except those with full blown TDS.
Even if Trump is convicted (by a carefully selected New York jury of Democrats) the US constitution, unlike here in the UK, does not preclude anyone with a criminal conviction from becoming president. They’ve had years to investigate and charge Trump. The timing is strategic and politically motivated.
Trump Derangement Syndrome did not cease in 2020 and is probably getting worse as Trump’s lead over Ron DeSanctimonious increases. But so is polarisation set to get worse (and it’s already bad) and my American friends – I was with three of them last night – are very fearful for 2024. What quisling Steve Baker MP calls “awful populism” is much stronger in the US.
We too should be fearful for 2024. The breakdown in trust that the Democrats are fuelling, the ending of that most basic of contracts between citizens, called losers’ consent, on which civil society depends, is serious. Bush and Blair destabilised the world in ways that are still unfolding. The very last thing we need is a weakened, divided America. Electoral integrity in the US, so far as it ever existed, is shot to pieces. With Democrats in power it will stay that way for 2024.
Looking at the US and EU, the UK, since the “awful populism” of 2016, has been far more successful in containing populism than any of these other countries – so far.
What about the Nord Stream pipeline? Oh I forgot that’s old news.I will say it again, I want to live long enough to see all these criminals, every single one of them, put down out of our misery.
Lisa, the only way that could happen is by vigilante action. The PTB will look after their own.
“… it provides brilliant evidence for politically-driven deflection…”
This is what Ithought. It also takes attention away from the coming bank system collapse, CBDC, etc etc. Whether Mr Trump is colluding in this or just being used, or -more likely- knows he is being used but is not actually complicit, I don’t know: I find him a bit of an enigma.
mary – yes, as much as I want to believe, I don’t trust, I don’t trust Trump either or Farage for that matter.
No surprise that lies and the anti-Trump agenda rule. They can’t risk his being elected again if a fair election is held.
I imagine those conspiring to stop Trump would prefer another Republican candidate they can narrowly beat with the counting mxs and postal voters. They can put on a democratic circus and avoid all the fuss Trump would make when the votes don’t add up. If Trump runs it could get unpredictable. Hard to see any other Republican contesting a narrow defeat. They may even let a republican win if they think they can manage them. But If they can take out Trump they can stop anyone.
JT- Agreed. The extreme left democrats in uSA (not GB in this case), are clearly wetting themselves over the possibility of Pres Trump getting back in. Boy, oh boy are they scared?
They are making it worse for themselves by going after ‘all people Trump’. When Pres T gets back in, given the new rules of engagement, Pres Trump will no doubt prosecute ‘the brown sticky stuff’ out of each and every demon crat. I know that I would.
Clear and simple political vindictiveness. Bottom line – Pres Trump popularity is going up, and up, and up.
So Donald has a liking for strippers, he may be an ex president but he’s still a bloke, it’s like blaming a compass for pointing north.
The thoroughly perverted behavior of Hunter Biden and even his old man is seemingly OK.
We’re in for a very interesting few weeks, I’m not sure at the moment just how this is going to play out but expect a wild ride
