Because: Breaking News of 7.8 Earthquake
One might have thought that the NHS strike today, with paramedics, nurses and midwives walking out, might have deserved the odd headline here or there in the print editions’ front pages. Well, it didn’t. There are secondary headlines in the DT, grauniad and The Times. Only the DM went full in, but not as one would expect. More on that below. The main ‘theme’ across the board is Miz Truss ‘ because: Torees are upset’ (link).
It’s slightly different for the online editions. They were able to have another lady on their front pages, namely the mysterious death of the head teacher of Epsom College, with her husband and daughter. That story has been relegated though between the time I opened my laptop and started scanning the MSM and the time of writing.
This was because of the breaking news on a terrible earthquake in Turkey and neighbouring Syria. Here’s the report in the DM, paywalled reports are also heading the DT (paywalled link) and The Times (link, paywalled) online.
This terrible event is still developing, the number of deaths are rising by the minute. The first images are truly horrific. All I’ll say about this catastrophe is that it drove home for me how shallow our MSM are. It’s not just ‘news by headlines’, it’s that this provides evidence about how to brainwash us peasants by promoting exclusively ‘entertainment’ and, subliminally, ‘diversity’.
The prime example on offer is the BBC’s News ‘home page’ early this morning – here’s the link as of 6am today. It struck me how there were only three reports picturing men. All other pieces feature females, especially those compiled for the ‘Cost of Living’ section (scroll down a bit).
The men depicted on that page are: a report on Mr Tate, that terrible misogynist imprisoned in Romania; a report on the war in the Ukraine showing some generic soldiers, and the report on the earthquake in Turkey, showing firefighters and men desperately clambering on the ruins to find survivors.
I found this disparity significant because it demonstrates how successful our MSM and the Westminster denizens have been in their drive to ‘diversify’ our society by making wimmin the main subject of their reports while relegating men to ‘the husband who is irrelevant’, e.g. in their reports of the death of Epsom College head teacher. Here’s the non-paywalled one in the DM. I’ve scanned the reports about this tragedy but not once has there been anything said about the husband.
I recall the outrage by earlier feminists, bewailing the fact that reports about anything, from PMs to ordinary people, only spoke about ‘wives’ but never gave any information of what they did, or which profession they had. We were told then that this ‘de-personalised’ females, removing those wives from society. So where’s the outcry about the depersonalisation of yon head teacher’s husband? Surely, if he was ‘only a house-husband’, our MSM would have pointed that out, as yet another example for ‘successfully diversifying’ our society! They didn’t.
Furthermore, the ‘cost of living crisis’ has been turned into a ‘crisis’ for wimmin only, bravely trying to ‘fight’ it. Men, husbands, are clearly not affected – or rather, they have vanished from consideration. Men are only ‘seen’, or made to be seen when they can be depicted as villains or when they do the work wimmin cannot or are unwilling to do, cries for ‘equality’ notwithstanding.
This is how our Propaganda instruments, the MSM, are creating the climate where men are no longer visible unless they can be denigrated – or can be set up as horrific examples for ‘toxic masculinity’ because they’re bullies. On that theme, The Times has the now obligatory report on Raab (link, paywalled). It’s yet another piece of gossip, of ‘friends of …’ saying something that Raab allegedly did to their friend. Tedious doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Now let’s look at the leading report in the DM’s print edition. It’s been moved further down in the online edition, but that’s because of the breaking story on the earthquake. As always in the DM, the headlines provide the summary:
“No wonder NHS can’t afford union pay demands: On the day of biggest ever strike, we reveal that health service spends £400,000 A DAY on private ambulances and taxis for patients – Outlay on private ambulances and taxis has jumped 62 per cent in three years” (link)
This report was published at 22.39 last evening – time enough for other papers to have picked this up, but nooo ….none of the other propaganda outlets touched this with a barge pole. The Sacred Cow has to be made to look utterly blameless. It’s only ‘Toree Austeriteee’ which is to blame, and anyway, we’re all on the side of the downtrodden ‘angels in blue’, aren’t we, ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ notwithstanding!
There was also a disgusting ‘essay’ by Hannan in the DT where he claims that “Britain faces destitution because it refuses to admit the state pension is unaffordable” (paywalled link), arguing that the age at which this pension is paid ought to be raised well above the current level, because ‘people are living longer’.
Not a word about the huge number of people who’ve contributed eff all to the Exchequer. Not a word about the budget for social support being bloated thanks to ever increasing numbers of migrants. No, it’s the boomers who are to blame for making the UK ‘destitute’.
This essay is a trial balloon for the government, to gauge the mood of us plebs and to find out how much they can get away with. Well, the comment posters below the line didn’t mince words: Whitehall, Downing Street and MSM newsrooms better take note!
That’s all I have for today. My heart goes out to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, and to the rescuers trying their utmost to help, in freezing temperatures. Hannan, who was an Conservative MEP in the European Parliament and supposedly one who supported this country’s withdrawal from the European Union, was hardly a supporter of either UKIP or The Brexit Party and their objectives, and seemed to me at least the sort of person who thought he was better than they and looked at them down his nose. The fact of the matter is that the Conservative Party would have done bugger all to get this country out of the EU, and it was primarily the electoral threat of the UK independence Party led by Nigel Farage which prompted them to act. UKIP not the Conservatives Party were the prime movers to get to the position of where we are today, namely an independent nation state outside of the European Union, albeit with a crap trade deal negotiated of course by the thoroughly inept and incompetent Conservative Party who didn’t really treat the issue with the due seriousness which it deserved, and of course Hannan is a member of that party. What did he pro-actively do to get get us out of the European Union though. I am still none the wiser, but he did well out of it by being elevated to the House of Lords which is an absolute farce.
The DM Epsom report does say that George Pattison was a chartered accountant and the director of a management consultancy firm called Tanglewood 2016.
Wife is quoted: “We’ve moved house – we’ve bought a dog … I’ve got a new job, my husband has got a new job, that wasn’t meant to happen but it did and my daughter has started a new school so there’s been a lot of change for us as a family.’
Hmm? “That wasn’t meant to happen but it did.” What an odd way to put it. Is that a clue I see before me?
And on that issue of men in the media – There was a whole page spread in the Sunday Telegraph, I think, on some highly paid and high flying exec woman who openly said she could not being doing the job without her house husband. It is always instructive to turn these kind of claims around – imagine a man had said he could not mange his high flying career without the support of wifey at home. The pile-on would be instant and huge.

And yes, that point about the ‘high flyer female exec’ is well made. There’s another aspect to this which is slowly creeping over the horizon, and which we of course don’t mention yet: how it is that all those high- and not-so-high flying female execs have managed to make our society worse because box-ticking, everywhere, is good, initiative (a male virtue) isn’t, and rule must be observed be they ever so detrimental … As for politics: just look at Germany where the current government adheres to a 50-50 gender parity cabinet. Look at the state of their Bundeswehr, after three defence secs, all having got the job not on merit but ‘because: female!’. The list is inexhaustible.
Epsom college was founded by that church that mysteriously burned down in London.

Another bad omen hidden amongst the so called news is that Sunak is facing a Tory rebellion about the plan to get us out of the ECHR. Something that if the Cons did have the balls to do it would clearly help repel the invaders.
Should Oilygark Ritchie repeal the ECHR, it could ‘rescue’ the Conservatives at the next election. But as it would make rejoining difficult, it aint going to happen.

I assume you mean Reform UK, you know the party owned by two people which is wholly undemocratic where the so called members have no say as to who should be the leader or what policies they should adopt, and more importantly preach about how the governmental structure in this country should be reformed without first getting its own house in order. The bombshell the day after the next general election will be that Reform UK achieved a vote share of 3.5% and has no MP’s, and got less votes than UKIP did in its heyday. And I for one would not be surprised. No, my vote will be going to a more deserving right of centre political party, assuming that they have a candidate standing in my neck of the woods.
Re Hannan and State Pension: this makes my blood boil. They cant afford pensions but how many billions did they squander on covid, Ukraine, Wokery etc….
I’d like to put Hannan in the shoes of people who slave at delivering for supermarkets or up scaffplds, who can’t do anything else, then tell him he’ll have to slog on till he drops……..
Fully agree Mary! Of course Hannan would not mention this but why should the the public sector still enjoy indexation linking of pensions for the shockingly bad value for money they give us – MPs being the prime example. Or, the complete removal of tax relief given on earnings of £50,000 and above.

Hannan was an MEP, and outwardly a Brexiteer, but he was first secretary-general of the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE), which says it all. He treated those who should have been allies in the Brexit endeavour with disdain. He detested Farage, the more so after his success. I recall hearing more than once that behind the scenes he was a spiteful, nasty piece of work, doing all he could to undermine UKIP in the European Parliament, whilst professing the same goals. A self-centred, empathy-free personality, and his article on pensions reveals he has not changed.

Mary…….what we certainly cannot afford is the likes of Hannan and all other wasters in the Lords making an appearance and being paid the daily allowance in excess of £400 even though they maybe in the building for a few hours. Then on top of the this they and the MP’s are able to take advantage of the subsidised restaurants and bars in parliament as well. I wonder what he has to say about this expense which the country patently cannot afford. Its double standards all the way down the line with these people, and we need to be rid of this system of government as soon as possible. The whole situation is sickening.
Earthquake – I have been through a 5.9 richter scale earthquake – the building I was in, was initially very wobbly for say 20 / 30 plus seconds and not just one wobble about three – it was scary. The newspapers front pages called it the Great Shake.
As the richter number is a logorithmic scale, 7.8 is enormously worserer than 5.9. Poor devils. Glad I was not there.
