The ‘new normal: living in constant fear

 

 

It’s quite extraordinary. The western ‘leaders’ are doubling down in regard to Russia and Ukraine, just as they did with covid: lockdowns, mask and vaxx mandates, vaxx passports, and never mind the destruction to the fabric of our society. Now it’s the ‘new normal’ of living in fear of a war ‘made by Russia’.

For a long time it was clear to me: the basis for the two covid years of mental and social deprivation was that those ‘in power’, from No 10 down to the city halls, simply did not trust us any longer. They still don’t. It’s not by accident that our common-purpose infected, mostly lefty establishment happily grasped and implemented Lenin’s dictum: ‘Trust is good, control is better.’

There’s another lefty attitude which we’ve observed for years now. It’s their virtue signalling, from muzzle wearing to green blobbery to Partygate. Rules don’t matter to them because: “it’s different when we do it.”

That selfsame attitude is now on display in regard to Russia and the Ukraine. The US foreign secretary told the world that Russia ‘could be faking’ their withdrawal (paywalled link), that Putin is still capable of ‘pulling the trigger at any time’ (link), that they have ‘satellite images’ of movements. There’s a commercial satellite imaging company, Maxar. The Times quotes one of their representatives, saying that:

“Some troops and equipment are loading up on flat [rail] cars — especially in Belarus — and we’ve seen troops that are marshalled in convoy formation in Crimea, but the real question is where are they going?” (link, paywalled)

Blimey – it’s as if we’re all in a multi-player computer game of ‘war of the worlds’ where Russian troops should have little tags on their backs so all players can see where they’re going, preferably all in one fell swoop! It’s as if we’re now playing with scare satellite photos rather than scare covid graphs.  And then, underlining that “it’s different when we do it”, there’s this:

“Britain and its Nato allies moved tanks, ships and warplanes towards eastern Europe yesterday after casting doubt on claims from Russia that it was withdrawing troops from the border with Ukraine. Diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis continued but Nato’s secretary-general said “we are prepared for the worst” as he set out plans for new deployments. Jens Stoltenberg said the West faced a “crisis in European security” and warned that Russia’s actions on the border of Ukraine represented “the new normal” in Europe.” (link, paywalled)

Note the reference to ‘the new normal’. We’ve heard that before. Like vaxx passports, like incessant covid testing, it means that the Blinken and Trusses, the Stoltenbergs, the Bidens and Johnsons want this ‘crisis’ to go on forever. And why not! Haven’t they learned from the past two covid years that, provided there’s a scary reason for implementing antidemocratic measures – just remember Trudeau’s in Canada – “we” will comply? Now they use the fear of war as their ‘new normal’. 

That’s why “we” must stay strong because, as Ms Truss tells us, Putin can drag this out as long as he likes (link) – “we’, of course’ aren’t doing any such thing. That’s also why the ‘new normal’ means we mustn’t believe a word the Russians say because our leaders tell us:

“[…] the White House made clear that it viewed Moscow’s claim [of withdrawal] as nothing but a distraction. ‘Every indication we have now is they mean only to publicly offer to talk and make claims about de-escalation while privately mobilizing for war,’ said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about sensitive operations. ‘We continue to receive indications that they could launch a false pretext at any moment to justify an invasion of Ukraine.’ (link)

Yay! An ‘unauthorised speaker’ tells us what to believe in order to keep their ‘new normal’ of fear going, and why not! Haven’t the past covid year accustomed us to living in fear? Here’s yet another news snippet demonstrating that other ‘new normal’: “it’s different when we do it”:

“The Pentagon said on Wednesday that Russian fighter jets came within five feet of US spy planes over the Mediterranean at the weekend during heightened tensions over the Ukraine standoff. Three Russian Su-35 jet fighters crossed three U.S. P-8A surveillance aircraft three times in international waters on Friday night and Saturday morning, defense officials said.” (link)

The mighty US protects us with spy planes flying over international waters but Russian spy planes doing the same is just terrible! There’s more. If you wondered where the mighty EU was and is in all this – well, Messrs Macron and Scholz have been talking with Kiev and Moscow (paywalled link). 

They have been trying to get Ukraine back to talking with Russia, using the Minsk Agreement, but that, according to our ‘leaders’ and the MSM, is rank appeasement. It’s too much to expect from those leaders to understand history. While they bleat about appeasement, invoking Munich 1938, they’d do well to recall ‘Operation Barbarossa’ – but that is of course ‘different’ …

NATO, Washington, London may not really want an actual shooting war with an imponderable outcome, but they do want to keep the fear of war present in our minds, both in order to make us forget about demanding our own freedom back and in order to make us accept our permanent subjugation.

Trudeau’s despicable actions have vanished from the front pages – after all, he’s not Putin who’d be crucified in or MSM had he done something similar. Ms Clinton’s now documented interference with Trump’s presidential campaign: forget about that, it’s irrelevant. Moreover, it’s a mid-election year in the USA and a nice little war is always good to garner votes for incumbent politicians.

Rounding this up, there’s Ms vdL who told the EU Parliament yesterday that ‘the EU can cope should Russia weaponise their gas imports’. How – that is anybody’s guess, given that the EU gets 40% of its gas from Russia. According to Ms vdL, the EU 

“[…] has spoken with the US, Qatar, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Nigeria and South Korea about increasing gas deliveries, either through additional shipments or contract swaps, she had outlined earlier this week. […] our models show that we are now rather on the safe [side] in this winter.” (paywalled link)

Crikey! The EU now relies on ‘models’! She also told the EU parliament that the lack of gas in national storages is only because Putin didn’t provide more gas (paywalled link), not because governments had let them run down, not because the NordStream2 pipeline is still not allowed to provide gas, thanks to EU ‘regulations’ and certainly not because the green blob everywhere has declared gas an environmental enemy which “we” don’t need any longer. 

I leave you with a hysterically ridiculous piece of news: ministers have stopped the roll-out of the latest smart meters for households near Fylingdale because they interfere with the nuclear missile early warning system (paywalled link)! Still, since we’re so hi-tech, they’ve developed an alternative system. After all, even with Russia allegedly at our front doors, allegedly ready to roll, “we” must still do our bit to ‘save the planet’. 

Have a nice day and do check for little green men with snow on their boots! You never know – those Russian troops which US intelligence can’t find could’ve moved here already …
