“A Glaring of Cats” has been let out of several bags

 

Have I got ‘news’ for you! We’re living in an island of tranquility, untouched by the troubles ravaging the rest of the world – troubles such as inflation, war and economic disasters. Somehow our Westminster swamp dwellers have managed to cut us off from that pesky continent, omitting one piece of news which has agitated the rest of the world. Instead we had the Queen’s Speech yesterday, given by Prince Charles. You can find the print editions’ headlines at the usual place (link).

The ‘news’ omitted is the announcement that the Ukraine is stopping what amounts to 1/3rd of gas going through one of their pipelines to the EU. Here is the report by Reuters, published yesterday evening:

“KYIV/LONDON, May 10 (Reuters) – Ukraine said on Tuesday it would suspend the flow of gas through a transit point which it said delivers almost a third of the fuel piped from Russia to Europe through Ukraine, blaming Moscow for the move and saying it would move the flows elsewhere […]declaring “force majeure”, a clause invoked when a business is hit by something beyond its control.” (link)

Those pipelines transport gas to EU countries – a knave who believes Kiev did this to blackmail the EU into making the Ukraine a member! There’s more, and let’s keep in mind that Reuters is not a Russian propaganda outlet (my emphasis):

“GTSOU CEO Sergiy Makogon told Reuters that Russian occupying forces had started taking gas transiting through Ukraine and sending it to two Russia-backed separatist regions in the country’s east. He did not cite evidence. The company said it could not operate at the Novopskov gas compressor station due to “the interference of the occupying forces in technical processes”, […] The Novopskov compressor station in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine has been occupied by Russian forces and separatist fighters since soon after Moscow began what it describes as a “special military operation” in February.” (link)

Odd, isn’t it, that this compressor station worked fine during all the previous months of this war! Surely our esteemed business editors, never mind the ‘Ukraine war correspondents’ had sufficient time to write an article for today’s papers? Ah well, perhaps Whitehall hasn’t quite sorted out the propaganda line they want our MSM to take! 

Germany is of course hugely dependent on Russian gas, so their papers reported on this. ‘Die Welt’ writes (machine translated): 

“The Ukrainians indicated that Russians had recently disrupted the operation of the plants. Russia’s energy giant Gazprom, in turn, stated that “no confirmations of circumstances of force majeure” had been received. Ukraine has worked completely “undisturbed” in Sochranivka in recent weeks. Redirecting the now omitted deliveries via other routes is technically not possible, spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told the Interfax agency.” (paywalled link, in German)

Here’s another piece of news which has also been omitted. The New York Times reported last night (my emphasis):

“The House on Tuesday night passed a $40 billion military and humanitarian aid package for Ukraine in an overwhelming 368 to 57 vote, weeks after lawmakers overwhelmingly approved $13.6 billion in emergency aid for the war effort. That total — roughly $53 billion over two months — goes beyond what President Biden requested and is poised to amount to the largest foreign aid package to move through Congress in at least two decades. It also comes at a time when the two parties have been unable to reach agreement to invest in domestic programs.” (link)

Now isn’t that strange: neither the USA nor our government here is able to do something about domestic issues, for example provide help to families hit by inflation. Yesterday’s Queen’s Speech didn’t touch on this issue, as Spiked Online observed in their email newsletter:

“The economic slump is coming. Double-digit inflation, stagnant wages and rising job losses are expected to lead to the most painful squeeze in living standards since the era of rationing. But anyone hoping for answers from the UK government will be sorely disappointed. […] To say that the government is fiddling while Rome burns feels like an understatement. We are faced with the worst economic crisis of the past 50 years. We need bold, radical ideas – and fast. But none of the main parties is capable of producing them.”

Of course they’re not, and moreover they have to battle about the Party~ and Beer~Gate issues which are far more important. The Speccie teased out another point in their email newsletter last night:

“That’s why the big story from today’s state opening of parliament is not the list of 38 bills and draft bills read out by Prince Charles, but the row about whether or not there will be an emergency budget. That row was started not by the Labour Party, which has been calling for one for a while, but by the Prime Minister himself, who told the Commons this afternoon that ‘the Chancellor and I will be saying more about [how the government would help people] in the days to come’. That promoted the Treasury to clarify that there would not be an emergency budget. Indeed, it doesn’t seem that the Chancellor is planning much more on the pressures facing households before August – which doesn’t sound like the ‘coming days’ Does that mean more fighting between Johnson and Rishi Sunak?”

Perhaps – or perhaps Sunak is working on throwing in the towel and resigning from government altogether? In any case, those of us outside the charmed Westminster Village are left to our own devices, having to see how best we’ll cope with the inflation and the coming economic crash.

I get the impression that this government wants us to be proud of ‘helping’ the Ukraine so that we’ll tighten our belts without grumbling. “We” have become as much of a belligerent as the USA, with GCHQ openly admitting that we provide the Ukraine with ‘intelligence’ while boasting of ‘shaping information’ (my emphasis):

“The director of GCHQ [Sir Jeremy Fleming] has said passing intelligence on the “behaviours and tactics” of Vladimir Putin’s forces is helping Ukraine “excel” in the war against Russia. […] Sir Jeremy said: “[…] It is already a remarkable feature of this war just how much information about the behaviours and tactics of the Russian forces are out in the public domain and how much intelligence has been released by Western allies to challenge and get ahead of Putin’s actions. This is modern warfare influenced and shaped by the democratisation of information. Thankfully, the Ukrainians are excelling at it [and] we’re proud to be playing our part in supporting their efforts.” (paywalled link)

What is this ‘democratisation of information’ of which Sir Fleming speaks? As for the Ukraine ‘excelling’ at this sort of warfare: indeed so! They provide ‘news’ which have no relation to what is actually happening, ‘news’ which the Western media are later forced to retract or dump into the Cyber Room 101. His next remark however shows the real aim of our secret intelligence warriors. He said:

“The amount of declassified intelligence that has been made available to the public since the war in Ukraine started on Feb 24 continues a trend in recent years as Western governments strive to dominate the narrative of events.” (paywalled link)

Another cat let out of the bag! It couldn’t be more obvious: we’re only permitted to get news pre-approved by our government. That’s why more and more Russian news sources are becoming ’inaccessible’. Such news might disturb our tiny peasants’ minds by providing an alternative to the official picture.

As for the Queen’s Speech, our government and MSM and the ‘glaring of cats’ let out of bags: it’s definitely time for us to batten down the hatches – there’s heavy weather ahead.
