However, taking on board a proposal made last Sunday by our writer and reader Julian Flood, we’ll open this space for a spirited debate – and what better theme could there be, on this day, than Truth.

Anyone, like Harry Again that believes the lock downs reduce deaths from Covid19, should look at the comparisons between States in the USA that have locked down and those that did not.
I’ve just been reminded of that by Lock Down Sceptics from yesterday.
And Sweden’s statistics DO prove that lock downs are counter productive, when they have not been manipulated.
I’ve read through all the comments and in respect to the “Truth” angle or lack of it in the Covid campaign, I don’t believe I noticed one mention of the failure to make use of established cures for like viruses such as I am told is hydrochloroqine plus Zinc or a course of Vitamin D or even immunity gained naturally.
It’s as if their has been an international conspiracy not only to mask the truth, but also to hostilely “cancel” it.
Oh and not emphasised are those who do not tell the truth, particularly the EU are enemies not friends ( some Europeans friends, EU collectively and probably individually are enemies)
Enemy denial is another version of not telling the truth, especially when in many cases I is self evident!
That’s true Roger. The hydrochloroquine plus zinc treatment was first ignored, then when that did not work, there were fake trials. It was then as you say hostile ‘canceled’. Vitamin D was eventually half heartedly admitted to be useful. We were told to buy it from our pharmacy. Were they open? I was on it anyway so I don’t know how others managed. I bet few, if any NHS health centres agreed to prescribe it!
There are indeed ‘shades’ of denying the truth, avoiding the truth. Let’s be blunt, lying.
Surely you only have to be an observer not a scientist to see that Lockdowns/Masks have made no difference to deaths in that countries with severe restrictions or almost none at all get so near the same result – We will be lucky to have again a pandemic where MOST have to be tested to even know they are infected and total deaths are so near average and the average age of death from infection is actually higher than that for all other causes (now 83 for infection and 81 for everything else) – It is all panic response inspired by the now known as fake CCP pictures of suited men suddenly falling dead under surveillance cameras further fermented by the authoritarian orgasm of being able to ‘get away with Lockdown’ in a democracy – The pyramid of power that supports everything Covid does not want to be dismantled and as said it is ecstasy for any authoritarian and therefore many governments will be disappointed to revert to old freedoms – The big ambition is vaccine passports creating an entirely new mega dollar business enforced by the leisure and travel industry with government paying for new research for new diseases and new vaccines all with annual renewals and Big Pharma getting Billions for what costs them pennies – On the back of ‘health’ papers so much more can be added for control and coercion, all for your safety and peaceful society – Absolutely delicious if you like the style of the CCP – (Remember the doctrine is and ever shall be ‘Death after a positive result is a COvid death and death after the still experimental vaccine is a COincidence Death’)
Please note! The rioting in Northern Ireland by Unionists are a result of no actions being taken by the Uk Government to rescue the population from the grip of the the EU nasties and sllow them their rightful place in Great British markets. They are being deprived of British commodities in the shops, even basic dog food and English meats, the eu is trying to force Northern Ireland into a permanent eu market and trying to force meats etc from the republic.
Frustration is boiling over and it will not be tolerated any longer.
Boris must resort to WTO rules and the eu must build customs posts in the republic.

The sad fact of the matter is that we are run by an idiot who didn’t do the right thing in December 2020, and that is this country including Northern Ireland ahould have left the European Union on WTO Rules. Instead he took the easy option by caving into European Commission demands and agreeing to Northern Ireland which is an integral part of the UK being treated as a separate entity. Its a pity we don’t have a prime minister that puts the interests of the citizens of this country first before other countries, but we are where we are. The people need to wake up and ensure that he and his inept government are taught a very sharp lesson indeed at the local elections next month, and that doesn’t mean voting for the Green Party who are pro Europe and would have the EU walk all over us.

The Truth Lockdowns aimed at the whole population rather than the vulnerable has resulted in catastrophic economic and social costs to society – to say nothing of their devastating impact on freedom, basic rights and respect for the law.

Our society is based on scientific truth, the verity of molecules and electrons, the objectivity of cold equations, the pillars of measurement and repeatability. The rats gnawing at the foundations of civilisation have taken those truths and twisted them with dubious computer models, statistical fudges and outright lies.
‘Professor’ Michael Mann is at it again with his dubious projections, unabashed by his failures to predict or explain anything other than the trivial fact that the Earth is warming rather slowly – not unexpected in a recovery from the Little Ice Age, which is why he has to deny it ever existed.
SAGE has demonstrated loudly and publicly that their epidemic models are nonsense, and the Behavioural Modification liars have had to work like demons to keep us cowed and compliant.
This is what you get when our entire ruling class is STEM-deficient, as is our MSM, although the latter’s blindness may be due more to the financial chicanery of the mega-rich who dictate their politics and pull their strings.
Politicians, journalists and scientists on the make. No wonder we teeter on the edge of disaster while the two great dictatorships re-arm and smile.

Yes Julian Flood you are correct. Of course we have progressed by using scientific method. How else could we have moved from horse teams, to steam power, to the internal combustion engine.
From candles, to gas light, to electric light.
How else did we get nuclear power.
Science moves by formulating a theory, then testing it, I believe. Theory can be ‘knocked down’, if it is not corroborated by further experiment. Don’t forget LOGIC. We all have that but it has to be practiced.

Re covid19. There is very little “lived experience” in the ongoing debate about how this is/has been handled. People seems to seize upon some online oracle that predicts what they want to hear/wish was true.
Mistakes were made in the early days when there was little information about this new disease.
“Run of the mill” diseases and health problems have been neglected by the NHS in favour of Covid 19. The reason for this is that Covid 19 is highly infectious the presently neglected diseases are not. If covid was neglected, a single case could result tens of thousands in only a few weeks.
The one exception to this is the flu and there was a big push to get everyone vaccinated before the covid epidemic got under way.
The only reason deaths have been relatively low is that the lockdown has been successful except where idiots have ignored it. The lockdown has also limited the usual Winter flu epidemic as it is spread in an identical way to covid.
The Swedish semi-lockdown failed, lots of people died. (Another internet myth was that it was successful).
Nobody yet knows the degree of protection offered by the vaccine or how successful it will be in preventing transmission. It IS known that vaccinated persons catching the disease won’t die or end up in hospital though they may have some uncomfortable days.
Given that our vaccination program is far ahead of the EUSSR, our economy should race ahead of their’s when this is all over. (Soon hopefully).

A country is not a ship but these figures demonstrate that with reasonable precautions the pandemic is not that bad. Eventually we’ll get a really dangerous disease on the rampage and the destruction of trust this farrago of nonsense has caused will make taking that seriously at the start of an outbreak will be difficult with lethal results.

He is wrong about Sweden and has been told so before. There has been loads of discussion about how Sweden has demonstrated that the Covid19 death rate has hardly varied from other Winter Flus.
He is guilty of what he says of others. HE looks for online oracles who say what he wants to hear.
Oh dear. A lot of myths there. But the optimism of your final sentence is painful to behold. This will not be soon all over, and the outcome will be nothing to be hoped for.
It appears that most of the people can be fooled most of time. You really need to step outside the establishment information bubble and do some research on the ‘vaccine’, its nature and the likely outcome, and its true purpose which is the very opposite of our health. No one can claim ‘the science is on their side’ who marginalises and trashes the motives and character of people who have genuine expertise, and who rather than keenly and thankfully discussing the evidence those people put forward, simply ignores it. That ain’t science, that’s tyrants and pseudo-religions through the centuries. That behaviour alone should be enough to smell the corruption. Those places falling behind, and those that adopt the simple off-the-shelf cures, may come to thank their lucky stars.
You have it exactly right Phil. All the common sense evidence points to the reality that blind belief in the ‘vaccine’ (that doesn’t provide total immunity and doesn’t stop the spread of the virus) or that the promotion of such will bring ‘freedom’ (as we used to understand it) is delusion.
The ‘scientists’ who have this government in thrall will never be able to allow us the return to our old lives. This virus is far too valuable a tool for them to willingly give it up. There is still a vast global money out to be tapped at the expense of the captive and ‘fearful’ peasants! New variants of virus will (amazingly) emerge that will need new strains of vaccine and whole new lockdowns!
Those who have fallen for the vaccine myth will perforce feel obligated to accept the next brew and the next and the next! When their immune systems finally fail, how and in what form, will humankind survive?

My MP is not on the list of those who will vote against it so I’ve mailed him – less Conservative than the Communist CCP or our Labour Party.
