Let them share their barracks with ‘poor refugees’ …

It must be hard for the Westminster MSM news editors to come up with something ‘exciting’ for their front pages, be they online or in print. It must be especially hard because there are some subjects they must not or will not speak about, never mind investigate. Still, there are exceptions. I found one when I scanned the usual compilation of the print editions’ front pages: “Newspaper headlines: Ulez policy warning and police pledge on crime” (link).

The front page which caught my attention was the Express, screaming: “Army under fire over delays to house migrants” – how heartless of the Army! First, the bare bones of the ‘exclusive’ report:

“Army chiefs are being blamed for delays in housing migrants on a key military base. Hundreds were due to stay on Catterick Garrison, which is in Rishi Sunak’s constituency.” (link)

Bad Army chiefs, innit – and bad Sunak who surely must have told yon chiefs not to inflict migrants on his lovely constituency! It’s all about politics, about the usual virtue signalling. Housing those ‘poor refugees’ in hotels is acceptable, housing them on a barge is horrible, even though the accommodation is beyond luxurious. Setting up a tent ‘village’: how utterly inhumane! Army accommodation is perfect though, even if some of these ‘poor refugees’ have already ‘fled’ such barracks, going back to hotels or ‘relatives’, as the DM reports:

“A report claims that at least two asylum seekers left the MDP Wethersfield in Essex – where cases of tuberculosis, scurvy and scabies have been discovered – for hotel rooms. Another two also left the asylum accommodation to stay with relatives, the report said.” (link)

We’re meant to believe that the ‘poor refugees’ became ill while in this horrible accommodation. There’s not a hint of asking if our own soldiers, having lived in these barracks, were similarly afflicted. Moreover, there’s not a hint of a question what happened to the ‘doctors on site’, looking after the ‘poor refugees’. After all, tuberculosis and scabies are highly infectious. Shouldn’t these people be isolated? Is the Sacred Cow equipped to deal with them when we cannot see our own GPs?

And why is this case reported? Is it because these ‘poor things’ were housed in former RAF barracks? Now let’s look at the accusation by the Home Office – minister, ‘sources’: no difference. It’s a beautiful example of multiple back-stabbing, untroubled by facts, glowing with virtue signalling (all emphases are mine):

The Home Office is attempting to make major savings on the £6million-a-day bill for putting up arrivals in hotels. One Army source claimed that garrison commander Lt Col Jim Turner had rejected Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s plan, saying it would threaten a regeneration scheme in the North Yorkshire military town. But a senior government source dismissed this view yesterday and told the Daily Express: “The Army is scared of asylum seekers. They claim they are a threat. (link)

Nice attempt at smearing! After all, what could possibly go wrong when a contingent of young men of military age are housed on an Army site still in use! Obviously, all those Army types must be heartless, raving racists! There’s more on this utterly insane proposal by HO civil serpents:

“The Express understands officials want to use “empty” buildings at the base – the Army’s largest operational garrison – but are still trying to agree on plans that “ensure the uninterrupted delivery of military activity”.” (link)

What is going on here? Are they talking about … fences? How inhumane! Cynical old me however wonders if certain serpents in Whitehall are working surreptitiously for the dismantling of our Armed Forces, using the ‘ra-ra we’re stronk!’  imagery of politicians from BJ and Ben Wallace to the Joint Chief Tony Radakin to weaken our defence. It’s like termites hollowing out the structure of a building from the inside, unnoticed.

For example, why don’t we read more about the amount of ammunition and weapons left, after handing over so much to the Ukraine, to be destroyed by Russia? Are any of our destroyers, frigates, aircraft carriers actually out at sea or still stuck in dry docks? Why are the Westminster ‘defence’ correspondents not investigating?

Why, when we peasants have been told that we must be able to fight a Russian invasion, are Home Office mandarins so extremely relaxed about housing military-age young men in barracks on an ‘operational garrison’? Are they perhaps being paid by Putin, to make sure that there’s nothing with which to defend ourselves?

Are we no longer afraid of ‘terrorist plots’, the ‘plotters’ being handed this opportunity to grab some weapons? Are the scant reports of criminal gangs having used the dinghies not true and is that why “we” have no difficulties allowing criminals on an operational garrison where they can get firearms?

Furthermore: why have all those humanitarians, those ‘sources’ in Whitehall and ‘reporters’ in the Westminster MSM, suddenly stopped wailing about the terrible conditions of military barracks, unfit to house those precious ‘poor refugees’ but good enough to house our ‘operational’ army personnel?

I leave you with news that somehow, sadly, our Sceptred Isles are no longer part of the globe – the ‘boiling globe’, that is. The wonderfully shameless Met Office is predicting another week of cold, rain and summer misery:

“Britain is set to endure a grey and drizzly start to August with Londoners hammered by ten straight days of rain, forecasters have warned. The Met Office said Britain would be struck by ‘heavy’ and ‘thundery’ showers over the weekend, with a new band of rain continuing into Monday. Saturday will see a mix of sunny spells and showers, turning heavy and frequent at times with a risk of thunder across Northern Ireland and western Scotland.” (link)

I dunno if the reporter was simply sloppy when copying the Met Office’s forecast but I wouldn’t be surprised if those ‘Met Officers’ are indeed warning of ‘a risk of thunder’. How on earth have we managed to survive British summers without all those ‘risk’ warnings!

That’s all I have for today. Don’t forget: avoiding ‘poor refugees’ stricken with infectious diseases is racist. Have a good weekend.
