We pay it – they waste it

According to good old British tradition we start the first working week of the New Year with a Bank Holiday. After all, it would be unfair to have people  miss out on a ‘free day’ just because it happened to fall on a Sunday. Still, ‘News’ keep happening, ‘sources’ keep talking to MSM writers and the peasants need to be entertained, somehow, or at least their outrage needs to be fuelled.

Asking inconvenient questions or, God forbid, connect a few dots is  however above the paygrade of the MSM writers. Instead, we’re given ‘mood music’, in support of the strikes in the NHS – nurses, ambulance drivers – which are going to take place later this month. Those Red Tops not into ‘Teh Royals’  and the broadsheets are singing from the same hymn sheet: 500 extra people are dying due to ‘NHS delays’ (link).

So let’s look at one of the dots screaming out to be connected: ‘almost 46,000’ or ‘a record 45,756’ “migrants” crossed the Channel in 2022, the last dinghies to arrive on Christmas Day bringing 90 ‘poor refugees’ before ‘worsening weather’ prevented further crossings. Obviously, the people traffickers wouldn’t want to kill off their cash cows. There’s one interesting snippet in the DT’s report (this and other emphases are mine):

“The Ministry of Defence – which has taken the lead on the operational response to small boat migration – began publishing daily figures for the number of migrants detected in April. Since then, there have been five days on which the figure has exceeded 1,000.” (paywalled link)

Odd that nobody asks if the RN is fit for purpose when so many ‘refugees’ managed to cross the Channel! Perhaps the top brass is a bit embarrassed though and is therefore happy to retreat:

“In January, the Ministry of Defence is set to hand responsibility for small boat crossings back to the Home Office after taking over from the department on April 14. The move will see the Royal Navy pulled out of the Channel and sub-contractors put in place to help support Border Force officials with intercepting and processing migrants.” (paywalled link)

Does nobody in the MSM ask why we should pay extra for ‘sub contractors’ when we already pay for the RN and the Border Farce? Is ‘saving money’ no concern?

Over on the Normandy beaches, the Frogs only managed to stop “more than 30,000 migrant crossings this year”, that is only 40% of the total even as our ‘contribution’  rose from ‘from £54 million to £63 million’. All will get better though because:

“Border Force officers have joined French beach patrols to stem the flow of Channel migrants for the first time […] The first Border Force officers were deployed just before Christmas alongside gendarmes working to thwart the departure of migrants from the beaches of northern France.” (paywalled link)

Did they really? I thought they were on strike, with the Army standing in for them? Never mind – it’ll be fine, and we surely won’t mind that those poor refugees are getting medical attention even though

“A&E delays ‘killing up to 500 people a week’ Senior medic’s warning as hospitals struggle with staff shortages, surgery backlogs, flu and Covid” (link, paywalled).

After all, “we” are happy to shell out the costs for accommodating those dinghy drivers in posh hotels so why would we not be happy to let them have first dibs on our NHS! It’s only (our) money, innit.

Speaking of our money, there’s a lovely little report on the Welsh tinpot dictator – the one who ‘disclosed’ over the Christmas holidays that he’d ‘decided’ to step down … in 2024. So now see this:

“English taxpayers are bankrolling ghost government offices across Wales as nine in 10 of the country’s civil servants work from home. Some 5,287 people are contracted to work across the Welsh government’s 10 main offices, according to a recent response to a Freedom of Information Act request. However, the figures show that the average daily attendance across the sites was just 549 people in September. Despite the empty offices costing millions of pounds-a-year to retain, the Welsh first minister Mark Drakeford said there were no plans to offload empty space.” (paywalled link)

It gets better: “Mr Drakeford has […] dismissed claims that returning to the office will drive up productivity.” – true, because they weren’t precisely ‘productive’ while working in their offices, were they! The reason for Dripford’s intransigence is priceless:

“A spokesman for Mr Drakeford said: “Having the flexibility of office, remote and hybrid working brings benefits for local economies, businesses, individuals, and the environment. These flexibilities increase productivity, improve work life balance, and deliver less air and noise pollution. Our vision is to maximise the benefits of office, remote and hybrid working for our people and organisation.” (paywalled link)

It is news to me that hot air being ‘produced’ in offices is more ‘polluting’ than hot air produced while WFH, but what do I know! I don’t have ‘visions’, recalling the pithy words of a famous German Chancellor, Helmut Schmidt, who  said that people who have visions better go and see their doctor.

I leave you with news from the ‘woke’ front. Students at Imperial College London were told to become ‘white allies’. They received:

“Guidance from Imperial College London [telling] them to “understand that you have white privilege” and also to “educate others”. It says: “If you have friends or family who take a different stance on these issues, now is the time to have a hard conversation with them and ask them to rethink their views.” The university’s equality, diversity and inclusion website page also urges students to “take action” and become a “white ally” by donating to the Black Lives Matter movement.” (link, paywalled)

So a ‘white ally’ is someone giving money to BLM? A bit like paying the Church so that one’s sins will be forgiven? Didn’t we have that sort of thing a few hundred years ago? Let’s also mention that this ‘guidance’, to lecture, sorry: ‘educate friends and family’ comes straight out of the handbook for the Komsomol:

“The Komsomol in its earliest form was established in urban areas in 1918. During the early years, it was a Russian organisation, known as the Russian Young Communist League, or RKSM. During 1922, with the unification of the USSR, it was reformed into an all-union agency, the youth division of the All-Union Communist Party.” (link)

What worked one hundred years ago surely can work today! However, while students, always strapped for cash, are exhorted to pay ‘penance’ for the horrible fact of having been born with a melanin-challenged skin colour, their Vice Chancellor meanwhile topped the Times’ list of University Vice Chancellors’ salaries:

“Alice Gast, who stepped down as president of Imperial College London in July, leads the salary rankings, according to Sunday Times analysis of recently published accounts. Gast was given a pay and benefits package of £714,000 to the end of July 2022, an increase of 35.5 per cent.” (link, paywalled)

Let that sink in! There’s more, but do ask yourselves if the reporting might have been a bit more critical if yon Vice Chancellors had been male:

“Louise Richardson, the outgoing vice-chancellor at Oxford, which topped the most recent edition of the Sunday Times Good University Guide for the first time in more than a decade, received a package of £542,000 in 2021-22, up 18 per cent. Baroness Shafik, director of the London School of Economics (LSE), had a pay package of £539,000, a 10.9 per cent rise. For the first time, three women are at the top of the university salary rankings.” (link, paywalled)

Yay! Wimmin are raking it in while presiding over the destruction of our universities where cancel culture has risen to disgusting heights while ‘guidance’ about ‘white privileges’ is being given. Don’t you dare to connect those dots of wimmin receiving more dosh than the PM or even the top NHS ‘chiefs’ and the decline of our educational system which took place on their watch!

Well, that’s all I have for you today. Enjoy the Bank Holiday and be happy that your taxes are so exceedingly well spent. Clearly, only the date on the calendar has changed. Everything else, like wasting our taxes, will continue unabated. It can only get worse …
