If Green NGOs have their way we’ll only be able to enjoy such views on our internet devices
On this very first Bank Holiday of 2022 we’re presented with a handful of reports which hint at what this New Year might have in store. There are confused articles about covid and there’s one of the first ‘appeals’ to the government to do something. More on that below – and no, it’s not about T.B.’s knighthood. That story has vanished from the MSM as if by magic.
The ‘covid stories’ first. Well, they’re really ‘NHS stories’ and shine a light on that organisation which shows the whole ghastly incompetence of that Sacred Cow, suitably accompanied by voices from the far left which would rather there were ‘moar NHS’.
There was the ‘news’ that of the 100,000+ NHS staff absent because of illness ‘only’ 50,000 actually were off work with Omicron (link). Phew. It’s good to know that people can become ill with other ailments, not just covid. At least those ‘other’ 50,000 won’t need to test themselves so that should ease the shortage of LFT kits.
Regarding those kits: the shortage occurred because the staff of the sole (!) test kit distributor closed for four days over Christmas. How dared they – especially since they’d just received 2.5 million test kits before going on Christmas holidays (link, paywalled)!
One wonders if Javid’s minions were oblivious to the fact that yes, there would be Christmas and yes, people and businesses might close down. Was Christmas unforeseeable? One wonders if too many of those minions did as told and WFH, something which tends to disrupt the usual flow of paper inside Whitehall, from one paper shuffler to the other.
Labour, in the form of their ‘shadow health minister’, a certain Wes Streeting, asked why government didn’t look for alternative deliverers. To be sure they ought to’ve done – but perhaps Streeting and all the eager hacks blaming the covid government for everything might spare a thought for the workers still working. Labour seems to believe that delivery workers wouldn’t need holidays provided they’re given extra dosh.
It’s the usual attitude pervading Westminster: never blame the NHS for anything but blame ‘government’ instead. Don’t ask why the NHS admin bosses were clearly incapable of organising this delivery! Did they really need ‘a word’ from Johnson?
It’s certainly strange how those Westminster critters still indulge in magical thinking according to which the Omicron ‘crisis’ must be bemoaned and everybody really ought to be in Lockdown but at the same time those who actually do the vital work, work which cannot be done by WFH, must keep going.
And thus we get the next shock-horror story, that ‘bin collections are scrapped in England’ and that ‘ministers’ tell businesses to prepare for a quarter of the workforce to be off sick with Omicron (link). Local Councils diligently WFH this weekend, to come up with this:
“Britain’s streets may soon be littered with rubbish after bin collections were cancelled across the country in the face of severe staff shortages. Councils in Manchester, Essex, Somerset and Buckinghamshire this weekend announced reduced services or a complete suspension of waste collections as staff numbers were slashed due to positive Covid tests and isolation.” (link)
Well, the rats will certainly be happy – but isn’t it odd that rubbish collections were kept going ‘before vaccinations’ in 2020 when the country was in one sort or other of lockdown? It doesn’t seem to occur to the Lockdown enthusiasts that they can’t have both: a country and indeed a Sacred Cow working as they’re accustomed to and a country where everybody is obeying the covid diktats and self-isolating as if a deadly plague is just waiting to pounce.
Here’s another astonishing but typical ‘covid scandal’. There are now ‘calls’ from the usual suspects that all those private healthcare providers should be made to pay back the £m they received when the NHS commandeered all their private hospitals ‘because covid’ (link). we remember that these hospitals weren’t used by the NHS: not for covid patients, not as places where ordinary healthcare could have gone ahead.
The outcry, the demand of giving back those £m is not for the commandeered hospitals, it’s because the employees of those firms actually received furlough money. How unfair that health workers not employed by the NHS received compensation like everybody else! Funny how all those who screech that it was ‘our money’ never raise their voices when it’s about the eye-watering salaries paid to NHS bosses.
Here’s another ‘shock-horror’ story, according to which data have now come out demonstrating that the terrible side effects of an anti-miscarriage drug given to women from 1939 have actually been passed on to their daughters, granddaughters and sons (link). These side effects – cancers, stillbirths, infertility – only manifested themselves decades later.
The DM speaks of 10,000 women. Yes, this is terrible – but surely more than those 10,000 women received the drug? Why then must we be shocked by this tragedy but mustn’t point out that already, now, at the present time, women have lost their babies after having received those fabulous covid jabs? If these cases are ‘only anecdotal’, then why are the 10,000 personal tragedies not also ‘anecdotal’?
Moreover – why is this scandal not being used to warn pregnant women of not getting jabs and boosters? Why are the MSM not demanding doctors stop harassing pregnant women to get the jab? Why are they not demanding the jabbing of our kids and youths be stopped, now, until more is known? Why are they not insisting that side effects be reported properly and not brushed away as ‘collateral damage’?
I leave you with a beautiful example of outstanding green cr*ppery. On the one hand, according to the DM, backbenchers are calling on Johnson to ‘scrap green taxes’, especially on energy bills (link). On the other, according to the Times, NGOs are calling on Johnson to ‘do something’ so as to reach that latest Holy Grail, Net Zero at 2050:
“The National Trust, RSPB, Woodland Trust and the Wildlife Trusts have joined forces to call for urgent action that builds on the promises made at the Cop26 conference in Glasgow. They are asking the government to make seven commitments this year, focusing on protecting and restoring peatlands, paying farmers to restore nature, and additional measures to protect marine environments.” (link, paywalled)
Now there’s lovely! Who wouldn’t agree to that – Carrie surely loves it! Savour this:
“Darren Moorcroft, chief executive of Woodland Trust, said that Britain needed to show real leadership on the international stage by delivering “decisive action, setting clear targets to restore nature, and working with land managers to create tree-rich, resilient landscapes for people, nature and carbon”.” (link, paywalled)
Gawdalmighty! ‘Restore nature’ with one hand and destroy it with the other by plastering farmland with solar panels and uplands with bird shredders! Never mind that feeding the nation will become even more expensive and ‘CO2-rich’ because more food would need to be imported! Never mind that more and more people won’t be able to afford to visit those new, fabulously restored landscapes because they will only be able to afford feeding themselves, never mind visiting the countryside or even keeping themselves warm!
Are there no adults left who will rein in those NGOs, who will put a stop to the insanity of the covid years and remind people that we’ll not even reach 2050, never mind Net Zero, if we don’t start rebuilding the covid-ravaged economy first?
If those demands are signposts for what will come down the roads of 2022 then God save us all!
Carrie surely loves it ??
She probably organised it!
Apparently the E.U. have decided that since they are scratting about, trying to paint themselves green but also power themselves.
They have decided to call GAS ‘Green Energy’!
J.R. suggests that since we have transposed so much E.U. law into our own, we could follow their example on that too. Thus safeguard our own Green credentials.
He has also pointed out, just how much of our own gas we still have access to.
National, Woodland, Wildlife Trust, plus R.S.P.B. all deserve to be outlawed as traitors! Didn’t outlaws in olden times have to fend for themselves in the wild woods?
Yes of course, destroy our food producing land with re-wilding as well as solar panels and windfarms. What a good idea (not).
Change of subject. Shouldn’t someone explain to MSM that there are rather more than 4 Counties in England alone? Added to which, here bins are emptied by the Borough Council and they have only stopped one collection – the green bin – as they usually do over Christmas/New year. Makes sense, not many people will have done their gardening.
I wonder what those frontline NHS staff are off with then, if it is not omicron or pingitis.
I notice many in the Media blabbering about the terror of Omicron. Rubbish. It isin fact the entirely natural saver of us from the more virulent older strains and a giver of natural immunity afte a bad sniffle. As for masks and test and trace.Lame brains determined to never admit crass mob stupidity
Just read about Blair being knighted. I can’t think of anyone less deserving, except perhaps Boris for supporting it. We have lost our country to a bunch of scoundrels and I cannot see us recovering it by peaceful means…
Petition to stop him getting it!!! It was approaching half a million signatures last time I looked.

When a country falls into complete disarray due to corrupted and rapacious governments, the cracks in the infrastructure that have been ‘papered over’ for many years begin to widen beyond repair!
What we are witnessing now is an administration that has followed the requirements of their global masters rather than the dictates of responsible government. In doing so, the visible damage they have caused has become so clear that those who have constructed and those who have inaugurated the destruction have little or no hiding place! Thus the conflicting and mixed messages cause ever increasing chaos as those who are responsible run round like manic and panicking beings trying to offload blame and save their own hides!
But it will always be the people who suffer!
My local council in Kent (Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council) temporarily suspended the collection of green garden waste in July 2021 on the basis that there was a national shortage of HGV drivers, and there are a number of other local authorities in Kent and elsewhere who have done the same. However this temporary suspension is now into its sixth month and there appears to be no sign of it ending. I wouldn’t mind so much but the collection of garden waste every fortnight is a service that we have paid separately for over and above the council tax. To cover itself the borough council announced in Autumn that the subscription would be extended, so that’s very nice of them (not) and then they announced a little bit later on that there would be ‘a one off’ collection of green garden waste on a specific week which passed without the collection taking place. However it was collected a couple of weeks afterwards at which point no doubt some residents got fed up waiting and returned their brown garden waste bins to the back garden so only a small proportion were emptied. I emailed my local MP (Tom Tugendhat) about the matter in July last year about the issue. He did respond but with the usual platitudes as to how dismayed he was with the service blah blah blah, but little has been done to resolve the issue since. The ordinary domestic household waste has continued to be collected fortnightly however during this time, which begs me to ask this question. Surely the same drivers and crew who collect the ordinary non recyclable household waste are the same drivers and crew who should be collecting the green garden waste, so why isn’t it being collected. My local authority contracted out its waste collection service some years ago and initially the company that won the tender was Veolia who were very efficient. Then a couple of years back, the council went for a cheaper tender and a firm called Urbaser took over the contract, and since then the collections have been all over the place. The waste collection service in adjacent Sevenoaks District Council was kept ‘in house’ and not contracted out. They therefore employ the drivers and crews and presumably own the trucks as well, and therefore have full control over what is going on. This is how it should be done throughout the country, and the Conservatives are wondering why they are losing safe council and parliamentary seats, the length and breadth of the country. And of course all of this utter woe happens under Johnson’s watch…….
Don’t you love the “pandemic of the jabbed”? I am hearing a lot of people saying “I’m having no more jabs enough is enough”.
Oh for a job in a quango….
i wouldn’t have to work hard
All day long I’d didle didle dee..
(If i wasn’t self isolating
And pretending to WFH)
Oh Wouldn’t it be luverlee..
a customer of mine was given the job by Mrs Thatcher, of selling Quangos to private firms. And achieved such success that she gave him chairmanship of the Tunnel till completion.. His take on Quangos was they were snapped up by large companies , as they gave status , were usually monopolies which could be parlayed into the market with enormous leverage. EASY

Wonderful Lisa!!! Love it! If only!
Here we go again. Seventy years I’ve been watching. Same politicians inventing and .fighting with their own snake oil and exploiting the same ignorance. It is extraordinary that not only have the same sicknesses survived, but the same remedies have been avoided again and again, in favour of taking the reward and doing nothing even remotely constructive. It is as though constructive action is evil.
It is hard today to find any optimistic aspect of society.. There is in fact no future for us. Only by dictatorship can any advances occur.
Our leadership, real, invisible, benevolent, or malign, seem tohave some drug induced dream of their own, and their trivial spent dribbles of ambitions.
TG Spokes……did you say 70 years with the SAME politicians. Have they discovered the secret to eternal youth in your neck of the woods? And I certainly do not agree with your notion that only a dictatorship is able to sustain any advances. Come on, that’s taking it too far now. Its almost as bad as stating that Boris Johnson is pretty much a perfect politician. Mind you Johnson is behaving like a dictator at the moment.
Saw a meme today depicting a suited individual holding out a large green sack, labelled ‘Climate research $ Funding’, to a salivating white coated gent with $-signs reflected in his glasses, who is saying: “Sure! I’ll settle the science for ya.”
“Well, the rats will certainly be happy.” I assume you mean the little critters not the ones deliberately creating a break down in society, who’ll be very happy indeed.
