It is, as I have mentioned before, the MICE. The MICE control  Media, Money, Military, Medicine, Manufacturing, and much more, MMMMMmm! Thanks to the intellectual inbreeding programs that are run by the universities (Monoversities?), a suitably compliant political professional class has emerged known as the radical centre, which can implement the desired policy, be it left or right-wing in nature. Having served their time in parliament, they can look forward to a well-paid position in the state-funded private sector for their efforts.

Hunting money has become very similar to industrial fishing: Set up some bait stations (Marketing advertising lower prices, even if the small print requires customers to hop for one hour a day instead of walk!), then net the business you want and throw the rest of the catch overboard. Supermarkets go one better by offering promotions like two for the price of one, the cost of which is born entirely by the producer, not the supermarket. Still, the supermarket will claim the credit for offering lower prices. Supermarkets do not offer two for the price of one on their shares!

Farming money has become more like intensive agriculture: the start of the package tours created battery hotels, charter flights resemble cattle trucks with wings, and dining rooms became canteens. And the banking fraternity managed to excel themselves with fractional reserve banking and fiat currencies.

First, they have created a poverty maintenance and enhancement mechanism that ensures the majority of the population and business community becomes poorer and thus more dependent on credit over time. Secondly, thanks to a reproductive aid introduced in the city of London called the “Big Bang”, allowed investment banks to use the assets of ordinary banks to create “Investments” known as Derivatives. So a loan could be replicated in a slightly different form called a Collateralised Debt Obligation. This enabled more people to get involved in what should be a simple two-party transaction between borrower and lender.

Allegedly, mortgage type loans have been leveraged by derivatives up to thirty times the original loan. This has created a situation where the default of the loan is much more profitable than the repayment of the loan by a factor of thirty. So a £100,000 loan is worth £3,000,000 to the interested parties if it defaults, creating a moral hazard balance of 30:1 in favour of foreclosure.

Scrappage became bigger as a direct result of more capacity in manufacturing, made it necessary to increase demand to keep the factories busy. The simplest answer is to reduce the life of what factories produced. Undermine the repair industry, which is small in comparison, making it cheaper to replace than repair most manufactured goods.

All this rubbish prompted the recycling industry, which created the illusion of cutting down on waste, without tackling the cause of the waste, which was the “forevermore” increase in manufacturing. The one area that highlights this approach is food, which takes nutrients from agricultural land in the form of food. As soon the food is eaten, it begins a one-way journey via the sewage system to the bottom of the nearest ocean, rather than being returned to the land to support new growth.

From a fiat money perspective, the internet has become like the old trade routes, by sea and overland, and so control of the internet is seen as vital by all the various MICE in different parts of the world.

The evolution of conflict tactics over time focuses on taking the high ground so that your opponents were more tired than you when the fighting began. Ships were taller than swimmers but grew to become mobile floating castles, aircraft became the next level up, and the next will be space, which is higher still. Currently, cyberspace is technically more achievable, and so instead of Air Superiority, think Worm Superiority until they develop a Cyber Blackbird!

In case you think that the evolution of conflict tactics has little to do with money, I tentatively remind the reader that money – or its equivalent – has been both the cause of conflict and used as a weapon, ever since it was invented. I am not harking back to some distant time when everything in the garden was rosy. As a species, humans have to decide whether this behaviour is desirable and sustainable – or do we change the way we do business?

A bit about power and why the lack of it ennobles the owner. This simple maxim from an Austrian school of ecology states: “ To command nature, you must first obey nature.”

Few regimes lose their power gracefully; normally, they cling on to power until it is taken from them by force. I can think of only one exception, and that is the British Empire and Monarchy. The empire was given away after two disastrous world wars, and the USA became the dominant power. The empire became the Common Wealth. After the first world war, such was the loss and suffering, that the Monarchy needed to be seen as supportive of their subjects. This was reinforced by the fate of their contemporaries across the channel.

This was started by King George and Queen Mary and continued after the Second World War by Queen Elizabeth the second who has reigned for over sixty years while the Empire was changed into the Common Wealth. During this time, the monarchy has become increasingly more popular than the politicians.

Parallel to this development has been the rise of the republics. Presidents are supposed to serve for four to eight years, but republics tend to rapidly morph into elitist regimes, run by the few for the few, as the original constitution is ignored or changed.

New Presidents, can be in office and out again before the brown stuff hits the whirly thing, and do not have to live with the results of their actions. Notable republics around the world are labelled either Communist, Socialist, Capitalist, or Military Junta. The practical result is that they are all similar, requiring their presidents to be protected from their citizens and vice versa.

So now for a quick recap:

The first currency, energy, was widely distributed, not under central control, and had no scrappage in the economy.

The second currency was precious metals; they soon became concentrated into the hands of a few, caused conflict and a change of behaviour from the production of goods to theft for the powerful within the economy.

The third currency was fiat currency, which facilitated greater relative poverty in that it exaggerated the gap between rich and poor, by constantly devaluing the purchasing power of savers by expanding the money supply. It also caused great damage to our habitats life support systems, because it no longer provided a valid connection between resources and its own value.

So it is up to people to decide if they wish to change so that their children and the rest of the inhabitants of the planet can have a chance at a rosier future than our history to date suggests.

So now it is my turn to pony up some suggestions as to how the title of this essay “Financial Rehabilitation” might be implemented. But I am not going to oblige. The reason being that it is up to the reader to define any imbalances that could be altered from their own perspective, which will encourage the cogs in their brain to cogitate!
