We know they lie, the government and politicians. Now they’re not even ashamed when their lies catch up with them. It’s not just the green Net Zero lie which is there for all to see. There’s also the lie that ‘all kids must be jabbed’ so that schools can function. There’s the NI rise “because: social care!” already shown to be a lie even before it’s become law. And let’s not forget Priti stomping her pretty little feet.
Starting with her: after over 800 “refugees” invaded our country yesterday, putting the number of illegals well over 13,000, she is now threatening Macron not to pay a penny of the promised Danegeld meant to stop him from turning a blind eye to those dinghy-driving migrants (link).
Have you noticed that Priti is always ‘in the news’, announcing something she is going to do – and then nothing ever happens. Well, she and her mandarins don’t need to worry about having to cope with the effects this wave of illegals will have on their daily lives, just as BJ and his Cabinet can sun themselves in what they believe to be the sun of well-signalled virtue created by taking in 20,000 Afghan refugees. Why would they – it’s us who pay.
There’s the lie that schools would operate ‘normally’ when all kids from age 12 upwards have been jabbed. Sorry – no: jabbed or not, headmasters, driven by teachers’ unions, will enforce all the restrictions, from permanent mask wearing onwards, which made school life a misery for our kids (paywalled link).
There’s the lie of how “we” will use wind power for all our energy needs to achieve th Net Zero Holy Grail:
“Energy prices have spiked to a record high in Britain after calm weather shut down the country’s wind turbines amid a global shortage of natural gas. Wholesale power costs surged to more than four times their normal level, forcing officials to fire up coal-based plants to handle demand. It is feared the high prices will continue into winter as the weather gets colder, raising fears over household bills and putting a string of energy suppliers at risk of going bust. […] Gas-fired power stations still generate more than 30pc of UK electricity. Power costs are closely tied to gas prices, which this evening [6th Sept 2021] hit 134.5p per therm in the UK – compared to less than 30p per therm one year ago.” (paywalled link)
Will BJ and his Carrie-green coterie now wake up from their green dream of wind power? Will anyone ask why, when coal-fired power stations are clearly needed, they were shut down in the first place? When will someone inside the Westminster Village raise their head above the parapet and point out that the green, windpower emperor is nekkid?
And so to the latest, blatant lie – a lie which even our adept MSM, the unofficial propaganda ministry, haven’t yet been able to spin properly: the rise in NI contributions. According to a YouGov poll two thirds of ‘the public’ supported a rise in NI contributions in the summer and did so again later (paywalled link).
We all know what to think of YouGov: it’s a government propaganda instrument. It’s the political coward’s way out of dealing with the real lives of real people. It’s the ‘argument’ MPs and ministers will use again to force us into compliance. It’s ‘government by poll’ and no-one knows who those polled are.
Since “we” want a rise in NI contributions BJ believes he can push this through Parliament. The sleight-of hand however is blatant: on the one hand this is sold as ‘reform of social care’, on the other this increase will be used to ‘clear the NHS backlog’. Worse: the DM calculates this will cost workers about £5 per week while also pointing out that, without much fanfare, the pensions triple lock is broken, that Sunak will only raise pensions by 2.5% – the smallest possible amount – which will make pensioners poorer by £4 per week (link). Making the poor – workers and the elderly – poorer: a beautiful policy, innit!
More tinder for a political bonfire is being heaped up in The Times where we read in one article how nice it’ll be for ‘middle-class’ pensioners not to have to pay 40% more in care homes to support ‘teh poor’ while also being able to hang on to more of their assets should they need to go into care homes at the end of their lives and that, being so caring, his increase will be used to raise the pay for care home staff (link, paywalled). Even in that article they have to shamefacedly admit that:
“Social care funding is due to gradually increase in the next few years under a “taper”, which means that an NHS cash boost to clear backlogs will be diverted over time to the elderly care system.” (link, paywalled)
One doesn’t need to be a Nostradamus to predict that this will never happen, that the money will stay with the NHS forever, that ‘social care’ will remain as dismal and scandalous as it has become, especially during the long covid-lockdown months. How scandalous this is hasn’t escaped some of the mightier Tories:
“One Cabinet minister described it as “a tax raid on supermarket workers and nurses so the children of Surrey homeowners can receive bigger inheritances”. (paywalled link)
Indeed so – but when BJ sells this as temporary solution to support yon Sacred Cow expect all those Tory grandees fall like ninepins. Even Starmer, who allegedly said Labour would vote against this, won’t be able to stand up: Labour against ‘helping Our NHS’? It ain’t gonna happen! Moreover, this is going to be an open-ended commitment, an open-ended raid on our wallets:
“The Prime Minister is expected to reveal that National Insurance will be increased by around 1.25 per cent in a move that could generate more than £10 billion for the NHS. […] On Monday night, there remained uncertainty about when exactly the money would then be available to help those facing huge social care costs in later life. The Telegraph understands Mr Johnson was privately warned it could take six years for NHS waiting lists to return to normal levels, even with new money. The Government has already committed more than £5 billion to help bring down waiting lists this winter.” (paywalled link)
Even £15bn aren’t sufficient to ‘save’ you-know-what – but it’s what ‘the people’ want. I’ll spare you the wailings from current Tory MPs and ‘former Chancellors’ like Mr Hammond. They all think this is a bad idea but won’t do anything but peacock in the MSM. They don’t dare to demand a root-and-branch reform of the NHS, never mind social care and they won’t, not when Sunak calls for Tory backbenchers to be ‘loyal and support BJ’ (paywalled link).
What about their loyalty to us, their constituents? It will be sacrificed on the altar of the Sacred Cow. BJ, clearly still fully in thrall to the NHS management, said yesterday:
“The NHS is the pride of our United Kingdom, but it has been put under enormous strain by the pandemic. We cannot expect it to recover alone. We must act now to ensure the health and care system has the long-term funding it needs to continue fighting Covid and start tackling the backlogs, and end the injustice of catastrophic costs for social care. My Government will not duck the tough decisions needed to get NHS patients the treatment they need and to fix our broken social care system.” (paywalled link)
That ‘catastrophic cost’ for social care can’t be that catastrophic when people are expected to bear them for a few years longer, for the sake of ‘Saving Our NHS’. This ‘injustice’ can obviously remain ‘unfixed’ until the NHS has the funding it ‘needs’ – it’s what ‘teh people’ want, after all.
Never mind if more of the elderly will die off because they won’t be able to afford to heat their homes thanks to the double whammy of rising fuel costs and a pension ‘rise’ not even covering inflation. They also won’t get the care promised by the Sacred Cow because there’s no money – there will never be enough money – and because GPs are still not seeing patients ‘f2f’, i.e. face to face.
They’re dispensable, collateral damage, needful sacrifices on the Sacred Cow altar. Those who haven’t contributed – all those lovely “refugees” – need looking after first. The Westminster ‘elite’ will only shed a few crocodile tears and Labour, now a firm part of this ‘elite’, will do nothing except bluster.
Never mind – it’s what ‘teh people’ want, innit, so shut up and pay up and die already. It’s for the good of the Sacred Cow and the Westminster ‘elite’.
KBO
The thing about the NHI, is that you don’t ever see it. It is taken out of your pay packet by the government AND the same amount again has to be sent by the employer with it .So you will lose your job ( 80 % of the cost of everything is tax of one form or another. )
This is a favourite form of government intimidation ( Indirect government.).. If somebody disobeys, punish someone else. eg If the customers won’t wear masks, £10,000 fine for shopkeepers or pub owners. Also a favourite Mafia or Organised Crime cunning trick.
All the fault of the criminal landlord or employers.
The black economy will continue to thrive cash is king and the only way to get anything done where I live.
Good Lisa, bits of it here too. But even that depends on notes and coins being produced.
Pride of our United Kingdom ???
Pass the sick bucket.
He has disunited it any way – N.I.
There are so many different plots being hatched at the moment by this government, it is causing back bench protest to be fragmented.
Deliberate?
That’s it Pauline A protest party. Everybody has a protest, but no machine to provide it. The Protest Party can have each individual protest with its own leader. So that anyone can support any protest get lots of marginal support, bureaucratic help , help from an advisory committee, and with real specialists on deeper questions etc. and supported generally by anyone in the general army. The ukip network of branches is all there, and the various branches of ukip splinter groups could surely be brought in, The Older more experienced ukippers who have gone to new parties could gain a base and a be valuable advisers. This little organisation can then supply many of the hopefuls.and previously tired with a new lease of life and support. As for a leader of the party A pure figurehead. The Actual leader has to be a manager without public substance.
I think that would kill off the BBC if it refused to change.. As I say, every voter in the country is fed up.
Check it out.
That sounds a brilliant idea T G Spokes and well done Pauline for your light bulb moment. I think I will send an email to Neil Hamilton.
One reason for the shortage of gas is that Putin has reduced flow to Europe. We don’t use it directly but we import power from some who do. Place your strategic power security in the hands of an enemy. He reaps higher prices and cripples his foes; doubt whammy. Now who, apart from any sane person, could possibly have foreseen that?
But this is a mere ripple within the entire technically ignorant, scientifically illiterate and politically virtue-signalling sh*t show (sorry, but it is) that is our national power strategy, or lack of it.
Instant response:– RAISE TAXES.
Proper Response :– CUT SPENDING
HOW ?..:- COMMITTEES. UNLIMITED LIABILITY,
QUANGOS, NAMED RESPONSIBILITY. A BIT LIKE info on leaflets.Or some other tying of jobs or titles to actions..
There are ways but my favourites might be:– just sack mont of em., or just go back to benefits being safety net, instead of being lefties guaranteed income.
I beg to differ, TGS. Proper response = STOP VOTING FOR THEM. If we continue to do as we’ve always done, we’re very likely to get what we’ve always got. The question is: IS THAT GOOD ENOUGH?
I will never vote for any main party again. I have had it with all of them.
